    • It works well, but kind of slow
I tried this out in approximately 4 gallons of 20c water and constantly watched the thermometer. There's very little water circulation, so water is heated in close proximity to the heater itself. That makes the thermometer unreliable, unless you stir the water (with a wooden stick or something similar). In my test, I was still getting temperatures in the 20s whereas closer to the unit, it was high 30s or 40s. At the end of the test, it raised the temperature of the water to about 50c (after stirring) in about 45 minutes to an hour. All in all, that's not bad, but if you need to raise the temperature of, for example, a kiddie pool, it will take a while. The media could not be loaded. This bucket heater is good for uses like warming up a bucket of water from the hose when washing the car, washing windows, warming water for aquarium water changes, or anywhere you might have access to electricity but not gas heated water. It's important to submerge it before plugging it in, and to use the included water thermometer instead of your hand. I really wanted to put my hand to FEEL the temp, especially because the thermometer is in celcius so I didn't have a good idea of how warm it was, but the instructions scared me away from touching the water (possible shock?). It brought a 5 gallon bucket of water from 12 C to around 18 C in a bit over 3 minutes, but note that it's uneven so you really need to stir it (not using your hand!) to even out the temp. If you have access to hot water from a bathtub that's going to be faster and more uniform, but this is a nice thing to have on hand for those situations where you are dependent on water from a hose. The water thermometer is quick read and will be useful for double checking temps on things like acquariums. ... show more

This heater is more powerful than I need and doesn’t have any way to regulate the desired temperature. I was planning to use it when doing water changes in my 46 gallon aquarium, but it just gets too hot too quick. I can heat up a bucket to 80 degrees really fast which is awesome, but I can’t maintain a consistent temperature with this heater. It just keeps heating the water hotter and hotter. Also, this heater is quite large and takes up a lot of space in a 5 gallon bucket. So even if I could maintain a temp, it would still be too bulky for my needs. It’s just not ideal for large aquarium water changes unfortunately. I’ll try it this summer in the kiddie pool and report back. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. It works as described but it is not meant to be use around children or animals as it can get really hot. It took longer than I thought to heat the water in the bucket and it heats uneventful. I had to stir the water to get a more accurate temperature. I wouldn’t recommend this item unless this is the only way you can heat up some water. ... show more

What do you do with a 5-gallon electric bucket heater. Well believe it or not I use it to heat my inflatable hot tub. The built-in heater in my tub takes at least 10 hours to reach 104°. So here's the trick I took a 5-gallon bucket, drilled at random atleast a dozen 1-inch hole, strapped the 1500W heater in the bucket, submerged it in my hot tub, and plugged it in. Threw in one end of the digital LCD Thermometer and Voilà. I followed all the safety instructions, including like not sticking your hand in the water while the heater is on. It wasn't instantaneous but boy did it help speed up the heating process of the hot tub. When done, simply unplug the heater and pull it out. Love it! ... show more

    • Useful, and efficient
This is a great heater, useful for whenever you need hot water and have no ready supply. I can utilize it for warming a bucket of water to supply my handheld portable shower, used to wash my pets, and could, with the right size inverter, use it off grid to head water to use the same shower unit for personal use. I have hot water delivery issues in my house at the sinks, because the tankless heater will not respond to the minimal pressure differential, so this will come in handy to use for heating up the floor mopping water, helpingme keep things cleaner. It is nicely made, heats the water quickly, and comes with a separate temperature gauge and probe. The readout is in degress celcius however, I saw no way to switch it over. ... show more

    • Powerful and FAST heating
I've been using this to heat about 50 gallons of water before adding ut to my Aquarium during water changes. It's heats up quickly in my 50G water container. I only have good things to say so far and will continue to use it. I will update if anything changes
