The 14|12 Resaw is a 110 Volt saw that feels like a 220. Features include pyramid shaped spine, 1 ¾ HP TEFC Motor, quick release tension, 115 volt outlet and micro polished 21″ x 16″ table mounted onto oversized Trunion paired with Aluminum Hi/Low Fence. Solid Cast Wheels are electronically, dynamically balanced & fitted with polyurethane one-piece tires designed to run cooler & last longer than conventional tires. I set up my new Laguna 14BX a few weeks ago and it has seen light duty since then. Did some test resawing with 6-7 inch wide red oak. It cut like butter with no blade drift or chatter. This is probably the best 14 inch band saw you can buy.

    • Quality machine. Spend the extra money for the 14BX with the brake.

Did my research for my first 14” bandsaw. I reviewed Laguna, Jet, Grizzly and Rikon. All had some positive features that I liked. What sold me on the Laguna 14BX was the brake, which does not seem to be available on the other brands. Being a heavy machine, set up was a bit of a challenge but doable by myself. I got the over priced mobility kit which was probably a good investment for a heavy machine. Fit and finish was very good. Laguna did not provide lock washers for all assemblies which I thought was disappointing. Haven’t really used the bandsaw much yet but I really like being able you use the foot brake to stop the blade in about 1-1/2 seconds instead of waiting for 22-23 seconds for a free spinning stop without the brake. For safety reasons it is well worth the extra money to get the 14BX with the brake. I wish the 14BX had two T-miter slots, one on each side of the blade instead of only one slot on the right side of the blade. Noise and vibration are minimal so far. Adjusting lower blade guides is challenging under the table but can be done with patience. Overall the 14BX seems to be a quality machine that I expect to perform very well. ... show more

Will add to this, but just took delivery. Can’t even get past step one- installing simple rubber feet because the thread tapping is so horrible. So I’ll skip the rubber feet as only one of four could be screwed in... if I could send it back after first impressions this thing would be going back today. ... show more

Overall I love the saw. Plenty of power. Great table. Good dust collection. But I have some significant complaints: 1) The brake pad rubs against the brake disc in one spot. Every time the bottom wheel turns, it rubs in that spot. This makes noise, rubs the pad away prematurely, and cuts the power of the saw. I've attempted to adjust it but even in the loosest position (which is too loose for regular use) it still rubs. Bad quality control on this. I noticed it immediately. Seems to be a defect in my unit. 2) The blade guides. They are really finicky to adjust. It's quite difficult to tighten them without shifting their position slightly, so true alignment is a long series of reattempts. The thumb knobs you turn to tighten and loosen don't have any play, so they're loose until the moment they grip all at once and often the guide jumps right at that moment. I've had a hard time learning to align them. The vaunted ceramic material on the guides also appears to be just a thin coating which rubs off almost immediately. What's up with that, Laguna? 3) When I lower the tension quick release arm, nothing happens. I have to jiggle the top wheel, which then goes CA-CHUNK and falls all at once. The blade goes willy nilly. I don't know if this is a shortage of lubrication or what but it's happened from the first moment and it almost completely negates the purpose of the quick release arm. I just had my saw delivered. The setup was incredibly easy and quick. I put the saw together by myself in under an hour. The only major issue that I had was installation of the blade. I purchased a Laguna 1/4" x 115" blade as well as a third party 3/4" X 15" blade. I initially wanted to see how the smaller blade worked because I typically do a ton of finer cuts. I spent more than an hour trying to get the thinner blade to stay on the wheels. I followed all of the instructions and applied appropriate tension as well as spun the wheel by hand to ensure the blade was tracking. As soon as I would turn on the machine, the blade would pop off. I came to the conclusion that the rubber located where the blade rides was raised in the middle creating a hump. This made it almost impossible to keep the thinner blade on the wheels. Out of frustration, I installed the 3/4" blade. It took me less than 5 minutes to install that blade and it tracked just fine when turned on. I performed several cuts with the thicker blade and had no issues at all. My thoughts are that I will run the thicker blade for awhile and see if the hump in the rubber settles down enough to allow the thinner blade to stay on track. I will update my post as I gain progress on being able to install and use the smaller 1/4" blade by Laguna. Also it is important to note that when you first get your band saw and you attempt to put on the blade for the first time, I had to back off the tension know almost all the way and then grab the top wheel and pull down on it. Without doing this the 115" standard blade wouldn't slide onto both wheels. So once I figured out that you have to assist the top wheel by pulling down on it, the blade installation went much faster. I am not sue if this is done by design or if this is a flaw in my saw, but it is something that I can live with. Overall, the machine was simple to setup. No major issues other than using a thin blade first. I will make some more cuts over the next week or two and provide an update. Hope this helps others thinking of buying this saw. ... show more
