  • BEAUTIFUL strings, that sound great!
Size: 760FGS
My first impression, taking these out of the packaging, was WOW! Can one describe a set of bass strings as 'beautiful?' That was my first thought. I put these on my 'Davenbacker' S1004.. my last build, a 34" scale all flamed maple Rickenbacker style bass..and the color was perfect. I think they look great on the bass, and they sound as you'd expect. One minor complaint- the 'E' string seems a little less in keeping with the ring/ timbre amount of the other strings. I listened later on through headphones, and I did not hear anything that would make me swap back to the excellent Fender 9050's I had on the bass prior. Unlike another reviewer, I did not hear a reduction in overall amplitude. These are really nice flats. It's really hard to see the color of these strings in the photo, they really are gold. ... show more

  • Aesthetically pleasing, tonally clear. Unlike other flats.
Size: 760FGS
I’ve only recently begun migrating towards La Bella and, well… I didn’t know I could fall in love with a bass string. I mean, I love the look of the black nylon tapewound strings on my Jazz Bass. And I love the nickel flatwounds on my other Jazz Bass. But when I decided to add a P Bass in pursuit of a sound approximating Joseph “Lucky” Scott (yes, I know he played a Jazz Bass), adding these gold flats to the equation was just meant to be an experiment. Now I can’t imaging playing without them and, honestly, now I find myself picking up the P Bass more than the Jazz with the black tapewounds. I only wish they made them in extra long scale. That would give me an excuse to buy a five string multiscale bass. I have clocked several hours on these strings now and can say that the surface is a blessing. So easy on the fingers. You won’t even notice the increased tension value. ... show more

  • 6 string Bass string set
Size: 760FGS-CB
These strings right here I probably wouldn't have my most favorite strings I've ever bought in general. Even on the other instruments I play. They're gold and smooth. When I say smooth it's not like the traditional strings where they're wound when you actually put your fingers on it it's like running your fingers across smooth glass. Really strong well made and the price you really can't beat. He's actually come in all sizes. ... show more

  • Solid switch!
Size: 760FGS
I’m really happy with these strings. Labella flats are my go-to strings and when I recently purchased a new bass, I wanted it to have a different sound. I’d first tried a smaller gauge to test, and wasn’t happy with the feel. I went back to the gauge I prefer and that’s when I discovered the gold alloy strings and I’m having a ball. I’m getting in a big fat sound that’s great for reggae, and for any genre considering the fixtures and adjustments I can make on my axe. I don’t care about how it looks… I’m all about function, BUT these strings look killer against the Texas tea brown with aluminum pick guard. Several weeks in and LOVING IT ... show more

  • Worst strings I've played.
Size: 760FGS
First set the G broke at the tuning peg. After a few emails, la bella sent a replacement. They look cool, that's for sure. The tension is insane, they are difficult to play. They have the most lifeless sound I have ever heard in a string. Worse than nickelwounds that haven't been changed in a year. There's hardly any midrange, and no treble. Ernie Ball flats are far superior, easier to play, and sound gorgeous. ... show more

  • No coating so you can use your fingers or a pick
Size: 760FGS-B
Excellent bass guitar strings, I was using the coated LaBella's but a pick would peel off the coating and then that was unplayable with the fingers. These do not have a coating. They sound excellent.

  • Had to try them
Size: 760FGS
Until recently I've never played flats on my American standard p bass so I had to try them. The gold looks great against my sunburst finish and tortis shell pickgard. They feel smooth and have a nice warm tone.

  • Will only fit top-loaded 34" scale; .not short, medium, XL, or multi-scale, nor headless bass. :(
Size: 760FGS-CB
Was excited to use these with a Traveler 5 string bass to have a high C instead of a low B (hard to find a 6 set in flats to get that high C!), but found a disclaimer on the packaging that said: "This set will only fit a standard long scale bass that is top loaded with a 34 inch scale length...These string[s] will not fit a short, medium, or XL scale bass. They also won't work on headless or multi-scale or mini bass." Grateful for the disclaimer, I normally like their strings but bummed this information wasn't on the detail page. ... show more
