I recently received this product and gave it a thorough inspection: Material used, thickness of materials, component construction, design and care taken in finishing details. Having been in the design and manufacturing consulting industry for 40+ years, this product rates very high in all characteristics. The blade is a heavy duty monster! I ran a large block of muenster cheese through the slicer and it performed flawlessly, as if it was butter. I'm looking forward to many years of performance and longevity. Congrats ... ! I wish i could afford the 12" version and give it a review ... Without a doubt this qualifies as an industrial machine.

Over the years, I have owned a few supposedly professional grade home slicers that I purchased from Williams-Sonoma. All of them have suffered from their plastic blade support roller sheering apart should the blade encounter even minimal resistance slicing meat or even cheeses. Poor design and even worse customer service… so I upgraded to this KSW commercial grade slicer. Huge improvement! Belt driven, heavy duty metal parts. Much more powerful motor. Precision slice thickness. Immediately the difference in construction, design, and performance was obvious. I had done diligent research, and found that there are basically two home slicer basic designs featured by several brands, with but minor variations. Probably out of the same two major factories? My previous slicers all shared that common plastic blade roller and plastic gear drive; while this KWS and a couple other commercial grade units all share the bona-fide heavy duty belt drive. Reviews indicated that this KWS was the top rated; so I chose it. So far it has surpassed my expectations. Slices are smooth, and as thin as I desire (for sandwiches), or thicker for jerky. Cleaning is trickier; the blade is samurai blade sharp, so you need kevlar gloves. But the unit does disassemble easily, which makes cleaning easier. Just be real careful handling the blade! (Hey, I wanted sharp, so I am not complaining.) Overall, this IS the slicer to buy if you are a serious home chef.
