  • Works flawlessly, great for multi-PC setups sharing a monitor
I run a multi-PC setup at home: a Windows laptop and a Ubuntu desktop I built. I use a 32" curved screen as my primary monitor, and to keep my desk cleanish, I wanted to only have one keyboard and mouse. I got this KVM switch and it's been fantastic. It comes with the 2 HDMI and 2 USB cables needed to ensure each computer can output video and interface with the accessories you plug into the switch, respectively. No extra power is needed; the switch gets power through USB from whatever computer is connected. The switch has 4 USB ports on the front where you plug in the keyboard, mouse, etc. The back has the 3 HDMI ports (2 input so 1 from each PC, and 1 output to the monitor) and 2 USB ports for connecting to each computer. The front also has an LED indicator for which computer is currently accessing the monitor/accessories, and a little switch to toggle between your 2 computers. Works well and without any issues. Each computer (so both Windows and Linux) can still "see" what resolution and refresh rate my monitor can handle, and it works flawlessly. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Kinda works
This works mostly. While it does recognize 2 different desktops, it tends to bring noise and a frequent disconnection to the screen. Initially when this first arrived, it worked perfectly but slowly over time the distortion has become a constant reminder of it. You might be wondering, what kind of distortion? Every several minutes the screen shows several horizontal lines of what seems to be a random occurrence in the same area. Other times, certain elements seem to have a static haze clouding over them. The worst, less often occurring sudden blackouts. My monitor has 2 inputs and a setting to switch to the current active screen. That’s active. It also has an HDMI plugged in but nothing plugged behind that. It’s remnants of how I used to use the computers before the KVM. I originally thought my issues were the cables so I replaced and interchanged every single one. Turns out, the cables this KVM arrived with are fine as well as the oem monitor cable this was connected with. When it goes through this blackout, often times the monitor switches to the other input checking for a signal. My best guess has been that the source of the problem is this KVM as it eventually comes back to the same input when the picture is restored. Eventually I will tear this whole thing out and start from scratch with another product. For now, because I’m lazy, it stays as a frequent reminder to test these out thoroughly before investing several hours moving furniture to wire cables are not be left with spaghetti on your desk. As of the time of this writing this unit is a 3 star product quickly heading down to a 2 star. Had the same performance held that it was when it first arrived, this would have been a 5 star. ... show more

  • Works as expected
Does the job. I am able to share a keyboard, mouse and monitor between two computers. Does seem to be nicely made. Only issue is that it seems to reset for no apparent reason. I have a lit keyboard and it flashes every once in a while, same with monitor.

  • Keyboard and Mouse act funny after using switch
Works great if you don't use it lol. Using it is like Russian Roulette with your Keyboard and Mouse functionality. Phantom clicks, MAAAAAASSSSSSSIVVVELY delayed updates to your keyboard rendering both impossible to use randomly after switching. Only thing I can find to solve it is to restart the computer which absolutely kills my work flow. UPDATE Moved from 2 to 4 stars: Company reached out and is working to resolve the issue. Even though it didn't work for me. They at least stand behind their product which says a lot. ... show more

  • It works but...
I use this unit with Windows and Linux PCs. It works well with a wireless keyboard and mouse. However, the mouse and keyboard lock up when I shut down the Windows PC. They become unlocked when the Windows PC is powered up again. It is a minor inconvenience, but I hope this issue will be resolved.

  • Easy switching
No issues with the setup, can easily flip between my 2 computers with only a slight delay between each. USB functionality is great too.

  • Gets the job done
Great value for the price point. Not the best ergonomic layout with ports on front and back, but there is only so much room they have to work with. Worked great for my temporary use migrating between old and new PC.

  • video issues on one laptop
I work in IT, I have had many KVM switches. They can be a bit tweaky. This one works flawlessly with my dell work computer. With my razor laptop for gaming, the video stutters contantly. I have to run the video cable directly to the laptop bypassing the switch. The video crashes out for 2-3 seconds, every minute. Its mostly fine when Im web browsing, but crashes when Im watching a video or playing a game. I believe it may be that the HDMI/USB cable isnt supplying enough power to the unit and it has no external power. Just my best guess. I have swapped cables and ports, moved the device to an area where it would be more temperature controlled, etc. Nothing helps. ... show more
