I just received this today so have not yet tested it in the rain. However its worth pointing out a few things. This is a good sized umbrella for one person. The shaft is rather short at 17" - as shown in my image. For this reason, I cannot imagine this working for two people. It is also hard to push closed with your hand but easy if you do it against the floor or ground. The wood handle is beautiful though the connecting rod does jiggle a bit in it/loose. The button will open and close the umbrella material. Nice color blue. I bought this to travel with and because I love the wooden handle. Here's hoping it holds up and keeps me dry! ... show more

I wanted a compact and inexpensive umbrella for my school-age son to commute between school and home on rainy Fall days. This umbrella is perfect! My son loves the nifty auto open and close function of the umbrella. The 10-bone construction added durability to withstand strong wind compared to the typical umbrellas with 6 or 8 bones. The overlapping canopy layers allowed wind to pass through without causing it to flip over which is really nice. The blue color is gorgeous by the way. ... show more

Just got it, so I'll have to post an update once I use it more. So far, I'm impressed by how sturdy and well made this umbrella is. It opens and closes automatically via the button, which is so convenient. No more struggling to close the umbrella while trying to get into the car! Love it.

Update: The customer service responded quickly and the seller sent me a new umbrella. You cannot find another telescopic umbrella with hook handle at this price. I purchased this item last summer, and it's not the only umbrella I have. I used it not more than 10 times so far and today just noticed that the stretcher to rib joint was broken. Pretty sure it never fell to the ground, but I remember I used it on a windy rainy day. Maybe that's the reason. The joint part is plastic so it's fragile and very easy to break.
