It’s built like a tank. The magnetic holder works great. Much better than the spring clamp on the previous two units that failed. My only complaint is the stiffness. But maybe that will loosen with usage.

This stand is almost perfect. My desk edge does not allow the clamp to fully seat (not deep enough) so the clamp only goes 1/2 way on. The joints including the swing adjustment are EXTREMELY tight. The clamp moves while trying to adjust the arm. I understand my desk contributes to this issue, I just wish the clamp was designed to accommodate different desk lip depth sizes. I also wish it was not so stiff. I don't know how people use this in a setting that they move it around often.     • Don't buy the charging mount if you plan on using the on-screen keyboard

Here's what you need to know: when the iPad is attached to this mount, the on-screen keyboard won't work. This is because the mount "pretends" to be a keyboard case to make charging work. Don't buy it if you aren't planning on using a bluetooth keyboard with your mounted iPad. Aside from the keyboard issue, this was a pretty solid mount. It only wobbled some side-to-side because of the pivot on the desk clamp, but was steady as a rock vertically. It was easy to set up and get right where I needed it. The joints were a little stiff to keep it held in place, so you might need to apply a little more force than expected to adjust it. I contacted Kuxiu support about the on-screen keyboard issue. They confirmed that it was by design - the mount must tell the iPad it is a keyboard in order for charging to work. They offered some instructions for bringing up the on-screen keyboard (these did not work in many search boxes in iPad OS) or to force the on-screen keyboard to appear using Assistive Touch (requiring an always on-screen button and multiple taps to bring up the keyboard every time). At least their email response times were relatively quick (usually by the next day). For me, the keyboard issue is a deal-breaker. I was planning on quickly launching apps from the main search screen or searching up youtube videos to watch while I'm working. It puts too much friction in the way. New design is cheaper, and has plastic parts. The quality dropped off and doesnt align the same. Still the best option, but it sucks to see their design get worse as somebody who owned the previous mounts.

Unpacking the box, it became evident that the design uses cheap ABS plastic fasteners (socket and nut) to tighten the mounting plate to the stand. These don’t last and then you can’t get replacement parts. I have contacted them with these concerns and requested a few extra nuts and sockets, these are very cheap, maybe cost a few cents each. They responded promptly but refused to accommodate so I’m returning this product. Manufacturer claims all metal construction, it should be that and not mixed. Those plastic threads are useless, you can’t even tighten them more than a few times before they strip and the whole thing breaks because you can no longer mount your iPad at a desired angle. This item overall seems to be well designed and constructed, but they cut corners at this critical component and cannot overlook the false advertisement either. Update: the company has eventually agreed to supply spare parts from their local warehouse in China. ETA:30 days. When I get them, I’ll update the overall rating by 1 star. ... show more
