Just starting again after many, many moons of not playing. It’s lighter in weight but for the price I was impressed. I will keep this for a while and see where we go. I recommend for any novice or someone like me not wanting to spend a lot to pick up an old hobby. Sound quality was good. Seller was very communicative and we worked out some things and we are both happy. I chose black but I recommend silver as these are painted. But it’s cool.

I played trumpet professionally for 25 years, ended my career a decade ago, and sold all my horns. I picked this up to start playing again, and didn't want to shell out $500 for a better horn, since I'm just dinking around with it for personal interest. For the money, it's spot on! The valves are well machined, and valve holes line up for easy blowing. There are some imperfections, and the tone is a bit thin due to the thickness of the metal, but that's to be expected for any horn that's less than $1,500. The only complaint that I have about it is that the third valve slide needs to be re-lathed. The bore of the upper insert is slightly too large for the bore of the upper sleeve, and it won't move easily enough to be practical for tuning low D and Db/C#. It's not misaligned. The bore sizes on the upper portion of the slide are not machined precisely enough to match. The lower portion is fine, and moves well. Other than that, I'd say it's comparable to intermediate level horns that you can pick up for $500 to $1,000. Overall, I'm surprisingly well pleased with this instrument! I would definitely recommend it for any beginning student. It only costs about $50 to $100 to re-lathe the third valve slide at a repair shop, and if you have a lathe, you can do it yourself fairly easily, so the third valve slide imperfection is by no means a deal breaker for this horn. I would be it 10 times over as a beginning or intermediate horn.

My grandson decided that he wanted to learn yet another instrument. He is a little older now, so I decided to let him try it. He wanted a trumpet so I found this one online. My brother grew up playing trumpet. He had a Stradivarius. He said this was a good little trumpet for the money.
