The Kryptonite Kryptolok Mini-7 U-Lock features a 12.7 mm hardened performance steel shackle with a double deadbolt anti-rotation design that resists bolt cutters and twisting leverage attacks. The lock’s disc-style cylinder with center keyway is protected by a vinyl coating and is pick and drill resistant. The keyway also features a sliding dust cover to protect the cylinder from dirt and debris when not in use. It includes two stainless steel keys with an ergonomic design to reduce torque and keep them from bending or breaking. Rated at a 6 / 10 on our security scale, the Kryptolok Mini-7 is good for quick stops in a metropolitan area, a couple hours in the suburbs, or all day & overnight in rural areas. It also includes our patented FlexFrame-U Bracket providing convenient multi-location U-Lock transport. This lock is also bundled with a KryptoFlex 410 (4' 10mm) double looped braided steel cable for securing front wheel or accessoires. Using Mini-7 on TREK DualSport Hybrid bike. Lock is very sturdy, key mechanism works smoothly. Mounting: This TREK hybrid does not allow for this lock to be mounted in the 'triangle' area as the bike's top bar is not horizontal, it is angled downward to meet seat post tube at fairly low point. I sourced some M5 hex head metric screws from local hardware store along with short bungee cords and improvised as seen in the photos - not the most elegant looking solution but it works to hold the lock to the frame while riding. One add'l note: this mini won't lock both the bike's frame and rear wheel to a post, etc. - the "U" is not wide enough to capture both frame and wheel due to bikes design. ... show more

I bought this lock for my daily commuter ride, which is an 80s Fuji S12. My ride isn't super costly, but I have tricked it out and want to keep it as safe as possible on my daily commute. I leave my bike locked up on a campus area that is well traveled and thus far the lock has done its job! I will say the mount that comes with it is a little cheap, but it works. Overall I am pretty happy with my purchase and would recommend this lock to anyone who is commuting daily and locking their bike up in an are that is well lit and traversed daily. ... show more

I would rate this 3.75. The U-lock is very sturdy and is on the heavier side. I never had the chance to attach the U-lock holder onto my bike so I don't have any comments on it besides the fact that I know it would come in handy. I lived in a downtown college campus area and had this lock for 6 or so months and it did a pretty good job. Unfortunately, someone was able to cut the cord and steel my front tire despite it being a pretty hefty and thick cord. I don't blame the seller or brand as it can be very hard to prevent thieves as they always find another way around the locks especially, it they have time over the span of weeks or months. I think this lock is great when used alongside other measures to prevent theft. It was pretty simple to use and I appreciated that it came with two keys in case one was lost. ... show more

I bought this for my son after we purchased him a new ( and expensive) bike. He is able to use with ease and it has the extra security of two locks. So far he has ridden around town using this chain and no problems whatsoever. ( Though he is careful where he goes).
