This lock won't prevent someone from stealing your bike but it will definitely make them think twice about it. Bike thieves will usually go for locks that are easy to break, pick, or cut. This is because there's a risk reward system involved - i.e., the more difficult the lock the more time it will take for them circumvent it; meaning there's more probability that they will be caught. It's based on this principle that I purchased this lock and here's why: 1. unlike standard cable locks or more popular U-Locks, Chain locks are flexible, this usually makes them more difficult to cut with an ankle grinder (difficult to hold the chain steady while cutting) and less prone to force prying attacks (a common circumvention method to U-Locks.) The 10mm hex link chain design of this lock is a pain in the rear to cut or force apart. That's because the chain itself is made from an ultra strong and tough triple heat treated manganese steel. 2. This outer tube of the lock cylinder is made of hard 1/8th inch steel and the inner tube is reinforced with sturdy zinc, and the locking bolt is a thick steel bar. Lastly, the core that secures it all is a newer disc detainer core. What this all means that the lock itself is going to be extremely time consuming to break and extremely challenging to pick with out a specialize pick set. About the only negative things I can say about this lock is that it's bulky and heavy. Also, there's no easy way to secure it on my road bike while riding. Other than these complaints, I'd highly recommend this lock.

I’m really impressed with this lock. It feels like a genuinely well made product from the second you pick it up. The chain is thick, the lock itself feels substantial, and nothing about it feels cheap or flimsy. We bought it because we wanted something we could actually trust with an expensive bike, especially when we’re stopping somewhere and have to leave it unattended for a little while. This definitely gives us more peace of mind than the lighter locks we’ve used in the past. It is heavy, so that’s something to know before buying it. For us, though, that’s not really a negative. I actually prefer the extra weight because it feels like a tradeoff for better security. We keep it with the bike rather than carrying it around separately, so it hasn’t been an issue. The locking mechanism is smooth, the chain feels extremely sturdy, and overall it just feels like a higher quality product. If you’re protecting an e bike or another bike that would be expensive to replace, I think spending a little more on a lock like this makes sense.

I haven't used yet but it is heavy and well made. I love the casing around the chain and also around the lock itself as a rubberized jacket. This will protect your bike.

This is 'the' bike lock when you value security among all others. However there are tradeoff's you are making. Size: It's funny. This thing is a monster, in every way... except length. It's Girthy. It's strongly built. It's solid. However, it's not long (which is good -- see below) so you will have to park your bike very close to whatever you are securing it too. Lock: Since this uses a detainer type of lock (instead of a standard pin and tumbler) it provides 2 benefits. One it's easy to insert your key regardless of the orientation of the lock. Two, as a disciple of the 'lock picking lawyer', to pick this lock is more difficult and only advanced lock pickers can take it on, and they better have the right tools with them. Portability: *THIS* is where there may be an issue. This thing weighs *a lot*. It's heavy. It's thick. It weighs a good 7lbs or so. Your bike will 'feel' it. You can not (likely) wrap this around your bike and simply go riding. You need to have a bike bag or something similar to carry it around in. Since the black-color-fabric coated chain links are so large, it does not 'fold' much either. Color: The two tone black and orange (locking mechanism) give it an attractie appearance. Value for the money: At current pricing of $120.95 I think it's overpriced. (-1 star). However, it's secure. If you have a $2K+ bike, and you are OK with the weight / portability aspects, get it.. this is the lock you want. If you have a ~1K or less bike, you may want to look for other options. Great for Ebikes of course!

Incredible lock. Plus I love you can add a 1 or 2 year bike protection plan if your bike were to get stolen due to the lock failing. Level of coverage is determined by the rating of the lock you purchase. This lock has an 8/10 rating and covers up to $3000 toward your bike. These locks are very heavy so it will add weight to your ride but I feel more secure using this lock instead of my old cable lock.
