abunda_amazon_reviews I locked my scooter to the bike racks on my college dorm and somebody tried to steal it. I am very sure that if it wasn't for this lock I would have lost my scooter forever.;;Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Very secure!;;Georgia;;;The key got stuck in the lock. Even before that happened, it was difficult to turn the key in the lock and I often had to take it out and re-insert it to get the lock to turn. I've owned other kryptonite locks and they all have this problem. The cover to protect the keyhole does not help. This one is also unnecessarily heavy. The keeper 785 model is marginally better in all respects. Either one is going to effectively stop a random passerby, even if that person has some handheld / pocket sized bolt cutters with them. But if they REALLY want your bike, neither lock will stop them. So you might as well get the cheaper, more reliable, and lighter weight keeper instead of this lock. Source: I've had 3 keeper locks and 2 evolution locks. I gave one of the evolution locks to my friend. Both evolutions failed in the same manner (key stuck in the hole or unable to insert key). None of my keeper locks failed like this, but a friend's did (while his bike was locked - he had to hire a locksmith to come cut the lock off so he could get his bike). One of the keeper locks got stolen along with the bike it was locking...which is not a huge surprised because it was a beater bike and I had left it locked outside on a public street for 2 months. I know this sounds like a hit against the keeper lock, but I'm absolutely certain that the same thing would have happened regardless of the lock I used - that's what happens when you leave your bike in locked up in public for months without moving it. Someone must have noticed that the bike was always there, and came by with power tools to remove the lock. The evolution isn't going to stop the right tools any more than a keeper lock, if someone has scoped out your bike and planned to steal it. Both will stop random opportunist thieves walking by equally well. So yeah, save your money and get the keeper. It will do the job just as well and be less problematic.;;Reviewed in the United States on August 1, 2018;;2.0 out of 5 stars;;Unreliable key mechanism, unnecessarily beefy;;Dissolved;;;The chain length of this lock is too short to go around the frame+a wheel+anything sturdy(pole). You may be able to get it around the frame and a small pole. I would love to return it but to be fair it gave the length in the description and other reviews mentioned it was rather short. I would like to put much more emphasis on how short this chain really is so others don't find themselves in same position I am. The description states that it is 21.5" in length. This sounds adequate but is a bit misleading. As you can see in my photo you really have about 6.5" of usable space to work with. My understanding is that the locking mechanism is quite good and the hardened chain is of good quality but neither of those are helpful if you can not secure the lock to something that can not be easily compromised. My hopes were to also use this for my motorcycle but it will not even fit around my back wheel.;;Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2019;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;Length too short to be useful. Don't beleive this will work to lock a bicycle to anything sturdy.;;Mom of Boy & Girl;;;I'm pretty sure it has prevented theft the many times I have parked my bicycle in the city along with a separate cable that I have for my wheels. It feels and looks intimidating. Sometimes I just wear it around my own neck to make a bold fashion statement. The only trouble is, the unlocking function is incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes I have no trouble at all, other times I feel like I'm the criminal trying to steal my own bike. You know the old saying about it being foolish to "do the same thing and expect better results"? Well, that actually works with this lock. I'll be twisting the key back and forth until it randomly decides to unlock. Not such a great feature if you're trying to bicycle away from an impending zombie apocalypse. But once you get it unlocked, oh boy, watch out, because it becomes quite the weapon. I've been practicing my nun-chuck skills with this demon. A good Chain to have, its my first so know that first. It comes with 3 keys, one has a light on it. I like how i bought it on amazon as i feel the reciept is always stored safely here, as having that is a part of their guarantee if something did happen to your bike by chance. I think you need that and the damaged lock some how. Nice that they stand by it. Upon putting on my Bull's Grinder 1 Gravel Bike, I found it a bit awkward to balance on the bike itself, and found my self searching for alternative ways to carry it so this wasn't an issue further. What I found worked for me best was riding with the chain locked around my waist. This felt the most comfortable for me. when you get the lock ensure you register the keys with the number on them at their website as part of their key safe program which is a rather nice feature. That feature along makes me feel as if I will get a good amount out of this lock. Now will i still use my lighter lesser, target store, U lock that I have no idea who made or how strong it is, I will at times for short rides and in places im not worried about where i'll leave it. I always found the U lock annoying as it was hard to feel like i could lock it around everything the way I wanted, thats why I got the chain to begin with. I feel i will use both but this chain will serve as a quality lock overall for years to come. Its just a tad heavy and took a bit getting used to is all.;;Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2017;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Good Quality, Heavy at 35", prefer to wear around waist while riding;;David E.;;;This lock is HEAVY. I wrap it around the top frame or seat post when transporting it. I will primarily use this for brief lockups to go grab groceries or a coffee in the DC/Virginia area. If I want to head to buy a bottle of wine, I feel comfortable to lock up my Trek for the 10-20 min it takes to go inside and find a few bottles and leave. Having a sticker on the bike to deter theft that says the owner is armed and this bike is under 24 tracking surveillance would work out even better. :)) This lock is heavy. With the keys, it is easy to lock and unlock.;;Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2018;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;I feel comfortable to lock up my Trek for the 10-20 min ...;;B
