  • Good Table, Fence Needs Constant Attention
Style: Router Table Fence w/ stand & Table Top
So folks know where this is coming from, this is my first router table. I'm a novice at its use and have no other to compare and contrast with. Still, the table is solid and well built. The height adjustment allows you to zero in on a specific height, I have mine matched to my miter saw so they can and do share table space. I was missing some tiny little nylon screw to square the fence, likely I lost it. I called Kreg and hats off to those guys!! The guy on the phone knew what I was asking about quickly. No questions asked, no order number needed, etc. They just sent the part, three of them in fact. That speaks VERY well of the manufacturer. Likely the postage cost more than the parts but that sort of logic has been meaningless enough in other such discussions. All in all this is a very good product. Assembly was straight forward for most of it. Gotta socket wrench?? It was a bit tougher than expected when it came to the fence. Really the instructions were not as clear as I would have liked. That leads into my one critical observation. The fence does not want to be square with the front of the table. For some tasks I want that as close to absolutely square as possible. You can get it there but I measure the left and right sides when I need the cut to be dead square. Maybe that is usual with these tables? Maybe I did not put it together precisely correct. I did go over and over it and it looks right. Heck, I'll probably tear it part again tonight and look again... I had to give a four start rating just so people looking for critical comments have a chance to find my thoughts but I have zero regrets on this purchase. Would cast iron be better? Of course. You also have t PAY for that and I did not. :) ... show more

  • Packaging and shipping errors
Style: Router Table Fence w/ stand & Table Top
Considering this is a $500 table, I will be a bit critical. I am leaving this review after sending a message to the seller, so will edit it after I hear back from them. The order did not come with the fence assembly per the option I selected and paid for, meaning now I must wait for that to get resolved. I am not sure who places the product in an outer box for shipping, but I have noticed Amazon (presumably) is grabbing any box they lay hands on lately to use as an outer shipping box, even though it is way too large (a friend had the same issue where a huge box was used and many things inside were damaged, and more than a few of my orders tend to come in ridiculous large outer boxes). The outer box was at least four times too large and no inner packing material was used to stabilize the inner product box. This resulted in the inner box tearing itself apart in shipping, with parts scattered all over. Three bolts necessary to assemble were missing (the bolt bag had torn apart and bolts were laying in the outer box, which itself was damaged with holes in it), so I had to run to the hardware store to find some substitute bolts (that will not work for the long run) just so I could set it upright. The leveling legs were damaged, their threads having been bashed in by parts. This makes it difficult/unacceptable to try to thread on the nuts. I had to place some casters I had on temporarily so I could set it up and finish assembly. Amazingly the main parts were not scratched or dented in all this. The main table bolts Kreg is using are not machined very well, with burrs in the threads on around 1/3 of them. You are supposed to hand tighten then use a square to ensure the legs and runners are square, but with the burrs in the threads you have to use a tool to run the nuts down. It worked in the end, but again for $500 one would expect a little better quality control on the bolts. If it is about saving money - Kreg: you can make them a little shorter to save on cost as they are a bit long, making it hard to use a socket to tighten the offset bolt/nut due to the one below it. Make them a bit shorter to save your costs and do better on the thread machining. The final end parts to attach the feet to are slotted to allow for height adjustment, which is nice. But it would be helpful if some kind of height guide was scribed into the part. The table is a set height, and without some kind of marking guide on the leg parts you have no idea now high the table will result in unless you measure the unit without those end feet attached, then measure where you set the bolts to get an idea. Again, for this price, it would be helpful if the total height of the stand was marked with some lines to give you an idea of height when you set those final parts. Irritating as to change the bolts after it is all assembled is a pain. As for positives, it is a good looking table with easy to read and follow instructions. Not much to it for $500, as the bundle I purchased for $497 did not include casters, did not include a switch, and had a static plate. The image I posted includes extras I had bought (power switch and precision lift). Leveling the plate is pretty simple as the directions to set the leveling screws to 3/8" below the top gets it about 99.5% there. I used a 3/8" setup block to set that height, which made it easier. The lower stars are due to the unacceptable packaging, the damage resulting in missing bolts and leveling feet not able to be used, and the incomplete order (missing the fence). Once I get those bolts and feet replaced and the fence arrives I will likely up the rating a bit. ... show more

  • Good quality fence
Style: Router Table Fence
Review of Kreg router table fence: (I purchased this with the Kreg router table and lift which are reviewed separately). The fence arrived in good condition despite the fact Amazon only put it inside a larger box with no protective packaging. The assembly instructions were well written and concise- assembly was straightforward with no surprises. The hardware is packaged in separate numbered bags for each assembly step. My bags weren’t numbered but it was easy to figure out which was which. Attaching to the Kreg router table is much easier because the screw holes are pre drilled and the slot on the left side is already cut out. Once assembled it is easy to square to the miter track in the table. The instructions say the fence itself might have some “twist” so 2 nylon adjustment screws are included to adjust it square to the table if necessary. I didn’t need them because my fence was “dead” square. Once assembled and adjusted, the fence locks squarely and securely to the table. All of the parts were precisely machined and appear to be very well made. My only complaints: The T-tracks at the top of the fence only accept 1/4” bolts and this was not explained in any advertising material. All of my stop blocks, feather boards, etc., use 5/16” bolts- I’ve never owned a T-track accessory that used 1/4” bolts. The T-track on the face of the fence is at the top of the fence instead of the middle where all of my other fences have it located. This will require me to either buy Kreg accessories (not happening) or modify my existing ones. This is inconvenient but definitely not a deal breaker. ... show more
