  • Great device for work, highly customizable
I bought the keyboard with the red switches. Feels great to type on and the size is excellent for my use case. It is well-built. The important features for me were the programmability and the onboard memory. Every single key can be programmed to whatever key or key combination (eg alt+d, ctrl+x, etc.) with the software that you download from Koolertron. The software isn’t as straightforward as something from Razer or Logitech but since most people purchasing this product will be geeks to some degree it’s easy to learn how to use it after a few minutes. All of the key modifications are saved to the keyboard so you can plug it in to any pc and it will work. Additionally there are 4 programmable “layers” so that you can switch between 4 separate keyboard layouts. The software allows you to program macros but I didn’t bother with it, I use AutoHotKey which is unbeatable for macros. The RGB lighting is great too, I typically work in a dimly lit room. The only flaw was that it wobbled a bit after I attached the rubber feet to it. To resolve that problem I stuck a thin piece of rubber under the wobbly foot and it stabilized the keyboard. ... show more

  • Solid Little Gaming Pad
I bought this macropad to save space on the desk I use as a mouse review/test bench. It's a simplistic, minimal design, and a great (if less "ergonomic") alternative to the Razer Orbweaver/Tartarus, with the always-on bloatware, Synapse. The biggest thing to me is that the macropad itself stores the profiles. There's no accounts to make, cloud-based profiles to maintain, or CPU/RAM being used for no reason other than to "program" a few keys. The switches are a rebranded Cherry MX Red of some sort, but with Koolertron's logo. I feel like they're Outemu or Gateron rebrands, but am not entirely sure. As with all MX Red style switches, they're decent and much better than rubberdomes, but they're not flawlessly smooth. The software for this pad is incredibly effective, if not a bit dated in terms of user interface, but it works flawlessly. RGB is done with SMD-style LED's installed directly on the circuit board, so the distribution of light under the switches and caps is nice and even. You can change between a few light patterns or 3 solid colors, all fully customizable. The keys are NOT individually addressable, though, so per-key lighting changes aren't possible. The pricing on this item is a little steep, honestly. It's offset by the fact that there is an entire keycap set included with the pad, and another partial set of pure white keycaps, but the plastic case is just a tad.... cheap feeling? Honestly, from the pictures, I thought it was gonna be a bit meatier feeling. If you want something that's mechanical, personalized, portable, with no-fuss-no-muss software and programming, this is the pad to get! ... show more

  • Excellent product for a very reasonable price
I purchased this keyboard mainly for gaming and it has performed admirably. It has a very nice feel to it and I am very pleased with the overall quality, so much so that I ordered a second one for a new computer that I'm currently building. At first glance, the software seems daunting but once you start using it, you'll find it very easy to understand. All in all I'm more than happy with this purchase and I'd recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a high quality but affordable programmable keyboard. ... show more

  • Bad onboard C connection
Purchased 2 or 3 of these have had it replaced through Amazon since each unit fails to keep lights on, unable to switch or know which profile is active due to no lights and sometimes device doesn't connect at all...Have attempted to use with several systems and the issue(s) persist. The device DOES remember its profiles between systems with out installing the software to each system....but still cant tell what profile Im on at a glance so other profiles don't really matter as a feature. Also, the device received doesn't look like the one listed...close but not the same. Ultimately I purchased a cheaper item and used MultiKeyboardMacro (paid software) to setup what I need and don't have ANY of the above issues. ... show more

  • Quality Hardware but Limited Usability
I purchased two of these keyboards at different times (one before 2022 and one after). As mentioned in other reviews, the pre-2022 version has an extremely limited set of keystrokes available for each macro. It's roughly enough for a few words but not long enough for a sentence or medium-length command. Still, the build quality can't be beat. I use mine for a handful of commands but can't use it for much more. I bought a second one in hopes of using it for travel so that I didn't have to disconnect, and re-connect my primary one. The 2024 model isn't limited to 24 characters per macro like the earlier one but seems to have a total capacity of around 633 bytes. (Certain actions such as "delay" take up more than one byte so your mileage may vary a lot.) Of more concern is the fact that the character case isn't consistent between key presses. I opened a text editor and pressed a key to activate a macro multiple times. Sometimes a character or two would be upper case and other times they would be lower. It wasn't consistent and the same thing happened with symbols. (Sometimes I got a / and sometimes I got a ?.) This seems to only happen with the "text" function as opposed to programming each "key down" and "key up" command which takes a lot of memory. As a result, this keyboard may be great for gaming but I can't see using it for typing commands, strings of text, or anything else where consistency matters. At this time, I'm still debating whether or not to return my second one. ... show more
