My daughter is fairly sensitive to cold. This keeps her happy and warm in the 76-78 deg F pool during days itโ€™s in the 60s with wind. She normally would shiver and be miserable. 3mm is the best although it makes her float which is not ideal for swim lessons.

We've been using these wetsuits for years. My 6.5 year old who is average size but very slender (47" and 45 lbs.), just moved from the 5/6 to the 7/8. There's a little room for him in the 7/8, but it's not baggy or anything, and it kept him warm in 70 degree water. Just bought the 9/10 for my tall/thin 8 year old (55" tall, 65 lbs.), and it fits him really well. I like these suits because they fit my kids' thin build. I went ahead and bought the 11/12, since I knew we'd want it in a year or two. But holding up to the 9/10, I realized it's only an inch or so longer in the torso, but much wider. I'd say 2", which would be 4" around. I was disappointed. I don't think we'll need that much girth increase with such a small length increase. Sending the 11/12 back. ... show more

Purchased for my 4 year old grandson so he could swim in our pool. He gets cold swimming no matter how warm it is. His teeth will start chattering and his lips will turn blue. I was amazed at how much this helps! He can now stay in the pool as long as his cousins. I bought a size 8 because he is tall for his age. I didn't want it to be short in the straddle. He is also on the slim side. It fit really well and even has a bit of growing room. The only downside is taking it off every time he has to go potty! ... show more

I bought this wetsuit as a Halloween costume (a dolphin trainer) for my 7.5 year old daughter. She's slim and slightly tall. It fits her great (snug but not tight) and she loves it. The material is thick and warm, however, since it's October in NY she hasn't had a chance to get it wet so not sure how it would fare in cold water. Would highly recommend.
