The synthetic winch rope is a good safer alternative to a steel winch rope. The rope is lightweight, easier to handle-spool and unspool. The safety the rope offers over steel cable is the main reason for choosing this product. A synthetic rope will not cause near the harm and damage a steel cable will if it snaps. A steel winch cable will snap back a velocities that combined with the weight and mass of steel can cause severe damage, severe a limb and or even be fatal. The synthetic rope will recoil back when it snaps but due the lightweight nature the travel distance is minimal compared to steel cable, and the impact from it velocity and mass do not have the blunt force the steel cable has. A winch is a tool that is not used often unless it is being used for agricultural or other related uses. My purpose for having a winch is for rare situtations where I may get my ATV or vehicle stuck. Thus, fortunately I have not had to use the rope. I trust it meets its minimum rated strength which will be sufficient to get my ATV out of most situations. If this rope can handle the weights that are stated on the package it seems to be a great deal. Its half the price as the other ropes. It has the three sections needed. Mounting to your winch, the middle section, and the lead section with the eye hook. The supporting metal on the eye hook appears to be a little soft, but I will see how it holds up with use. I have no way to test if it truly can handle almost 10k pounds of work weight. I did pull my Tundra with it by hooking to a tree and winching. ... show more

Steel braided cable is the old standard for winches. It still has a purpose and a place, but for the average man, (or woman) synthetic winch line is the new standard. Lightweight, strong, super strong and no more rusting, broke off pieces gouging your hands. This winch cable is going on my ATV, which is why I got the 1/4" line. Didn't need much bigger for the old 4 wheeler winch. Synthetic cable rolls up way better and more even on the winch. This cable comes with a built in eyelet, and the last few feet are colored to indicate how much you have left, and has an anchor bolt built in as well. This is a good replacement for your ATV winch cable. It is lightweight, but rated to support 8500 pounds! The rope came as described, 1/4 inch diameter at 50 feet long. The red coloring will warn you when it's reaching it's end length limit.

This rope is the perfect replacement for your winch cable. It's cheaper than cable, stronger than standard cable and you won't get any of the wire splinters that you get from wire cables. The rope is lightweight but very strong. It has a clamp on one end to attach it to the winch and an eyelet on the other end to use with a hook or attaching another line. The last several feet of the rope that attaches to the winch is brightly colored red to let you know you're close to the end of the available amount of rope you have. Even if you don't have a winch this rope is compact enough to keep in your vehicle for emergency situations to help pull vehicles from the mud or out of a ditch.
