Works great and is pretty straight forward for easy use. Like every juicer, cleaning is a hassle but theyโ€™ve tried to make it a tad easier by adding the perfect brush to help have the best finish after cleaning.     • Initial Concerns Over Durability, Resolved Impressively by Proactive Customer Service
The media could not be loaded. Having recently purchased the 1300W KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machine, I was initially impressed with its functionality. The extra-large 3-inch feed chute, full copper motor, and 304 titanium-plated steel filter were all standout features. It promised high juice yield and was easy to clean, being 100% BPA-free and even included a brush for convenience. However, my experience took an unexpected turn when I attempted to juice peaches, pits included. The juicer was unable to handle the hard pits, causing parts of the inner plastic housing to break off and grind. This resulted in an unpleasant burning smell, followed by smoke. I noticed damage to the bottom part of the juicer, with small slivers of plastic seemingly ready to come off. This left me with serious safety concerns, as it was unclear if this damage could potentially contaminate the juice with plastic fragments. I shared my experience in a product review, and to my surprise, the manufacturer, KOIOS, reached out to me proactively. They provided clear instructions on the proper usage of their juicer with different types of fruit, specifying that hard pits and seeds should not be juiced. They also agreed to send a replacement for the damaged part, specifically the 'feeder tube and lid'. Their swift and proactive response significantly alleviated my initial concerns. I want to note that after removing the peach pits, the juicer returned to its usual efficient operation. While I initially had worries about similar problems arising with other fruits like cherries, the KOIOS team clarified that cherries should be juiced without their hard seeds. This information was also confirmed in the "MANUAL-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS & CAUTION PART" of the product manual. Based on my interaction with the KOIOS team and their initiative in addressing my concerns, I have updated my review. While my initial experience led to some safety concerns, their swift and comprehensive response demonstrated a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and product safety. This proactive approach to customer service, in my opinion, is quite impressive. In conclusion, while the KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machines boast impressive features and efficient operation, it is essential to heed the manufacturer's instructions for safe and optimal use. Their customer service is exemplary, and I appreciate their efforts to rectify my situation and ensure my continued satisfaction with their product. When my Breville Juicer's cover broke...after 18 years of juicing...I decided to see what's out there. 1. Could have continued with another Breville....great juicer by the way 2. Wanted to see what's out there...bought the KOIOS Centrifugal Juicer Machines (great deal at the time) In terms of motor speed/power: the KOIOS is very powerful: Big carrots, small carrots....no problem....easier than my Breville when it was new. Beets...no problem...celery with ease. I found the KOIOS easier to clean and the overall very happy. Only through time and usage...would I know if KOIOS is reliable. 3. The comments in the review are from a first-time juicer. The statements regarding this product could be product-specific OR device-type specific. In other words, are the advantages and shortcomings of this particular product endemic to the centrifugal-type juicers? Here are the positives: The issue with noise: Did not witness it here. In fact, this thing was quieter than my blender. Power: At a purported 1000+ watts, this juicer seemed to have the power that kept it from bogging down during the juicing process. Overheating: Again, didn't see it here for this run. I juiced four grocery bagfuls of Satsumas whose sizes ranged from clenched small fists to clenched large fists. Never once did the machine turn itself off due to overheating. Ease of assembly: Until you get used to what goes where, you may stumble. Then the assembly is almost intuitive. Ease of cleanup: Again, not much rocket science here. I will add, though, the included brush is a must have; it will save your hands from being cut by the microblades and will help with cleaning out the screen. Included Extras: I had read reviewers of other machines complain how their machines almost "walked off of the counter". I had no issue there because this unit comes with small suction cups on the base that held it firmly in place. The small pitcher that accompanies the product served as a convenient transfer vessel with little spillage. In addition to the above, the machine seems to make a lot of juice fast. But here are the shortcomings. As I stated earlier, I am a first-time juicer and cannot really say whether the issues are with the particular product or the product-type in general. Pulp & Foam: There was a lot of pulp in the juice even though it was finely dispensed. Consequently, there seem to be a LOT of foam with this juicer. So much so that I attempted to decant the juice through a strainer to catch some of the pulp. There was so much that the strainer actually clogged with sediment. After the juice has sat in the refrigerator for a day, the separation of pulp and juice is really noticeable. Spraying: I noticed during the juicing process, that I was getting sprayed with juice when I would add the oranges. I guess this can be attributed to a feeding tube that is too short (?). This spray really became evident after I was done juicing and I notice the floor was now sticky and the counter top had sticky residue almost two feet from where I had the machine. Needless to say, this spray added the chore of mopping to the cleanup ritual. Exit nozzle: Does not swivel so when you remove the receiving pitcher, some juice will leak onto the counter (this one is a product-specific issue). Wet solids: the solids that are left over after the juicing seem to be a little wet to me. I could actually pick some of it up and squeeze more juice out of it. But whether the amount of juice still left is indicative of the machine or the machine type, I lack the experience to tell. Messiness: There seemed to be areas where the machine leaked. I found juice coming from under the machines and upon investigation, I found where the solids was somehow getting between the waste receptacle and the base. After checking the placement of the receptacle, I could find no deficit on my part that would account for this. I don't know. What do you think? Do you think my expectations were too high in that I expected less juice wastage? I expected some cleanup but not having to mop a floor and wipe down a whole counter. I really like this machine out of the box but now I think I can do better. My next purchase will be a masticating-type juicer or maybe even the latest rage: the cold-press type. This juicer is definitely a juicer for large jobs. It is sturdy enough to handle the task. But, I would not use it just for making the juice for the Sunday brunch; it's just not convenient in regards to assembly, breakdown, and cleaning. ... show more
