I've had several juicers in my life so I have a lot to compare this juicer to. Especially, a recent, small juicer for small spaces: It was a bust: had to cut veggies in small cubes and still, the juicer strained and the pulp opening got clogged and was difficult to clean. So I decided to go bigger, but still needed it to not take up too much space on the counter during use. My expectations of my new juicer, the Breville cold plus centrifigal, have been far exceeded. It is so powerful, you can easily put in large pieces and it just grinds them up easily without straining; the pitcher holds a lot so you can make a large quantity; and, really, really appreciated: it comes apart so easily (I'm 82 so that's important to me!) and extremely, I mean extremely, easy to clean!! All removeable parts can go in the dishwasher, but my first time, I found everything rinsed completely clean under running tap water. I did put the basket in the dishwasher and it came out perfectly clean but I think I could have rinsed it under the stream from the faucet and just used the proivided brush. The only drawback is that it's a little heavey (just a touch over 11 lbs) and I have to lift it to a shelf at head level, but I can do it. It doesn't take up as much space on the counter as many models which I really appreciate! I would totally recommend this to my friends and family.

The media could not be loaded. Love this new updated version of the Breville. I recently was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and once again began using my 15+ year old Breville juicer which has seen some better days. But I'm getting ahead of myself, I first listened to some podcasts and videos about the benefits of juicing for cancer remedies and heard about different types of masticating juicer's , and other very expensive machines that supposedly do a better job and provide more high quality juice. Well, I embarked upon a quest to find the best solution for my challenge. I tried all the recommended machines only to be more and more disappointed with what out there in the market. The slow masticating once were quite an ordeal, from having to cut up the veggies to feed into the machine, to having to stop several time to clean the processing parts to overheating of the motors and clogging up. I eventually went back to my old machine with more acceptable results. The only problem was the amounts of juice I required was putting a strain on the old dog. It frequently struggled to keep up with my needs. I was beset until i came across Breville's new cold plus machine and decided to give it a try before giving up since store bought juice just doesn't cut it. I researched that the new tech in the cold plus does not heat the juice thus destroying vitamins/minerals and that it made other improvements to the machine as well. So I gave it a try! Well I'm pleased to say "I'M impressed" and that's not easy to do these days. As the pics show the top now fits into the centrifugal mechanism and does not allow for it to spit out debris. Also the same goes for the larger waste bin which easily handles 6 lbs of carrot/apple waste. The juice container hold up to 70 oz and is really not that hard tilt into place as other reviews have said. The chute is 1/2" wider than the last model so feeding produce is not an issue. But the best I saved for last, the quality of the juice is exceptional. I usually do not leave this lengthly a review, but I felt that it needed to be done after reading some of the reviews. Thanks Breville and thank Amazon for bringing it home. P.S. my PSA has dropped down from a 5.4 to 1.83 and I'm heading for spontaneous remission. P.P.S I'm still experimenting with using thin produce bags in the waste bin for easier clean up which is nothing compared to other machines.

I have been juicing for over 20 years and have gone thru many juicers and this is a great juicer! If you are new to juicing, there are two main types and the one you choose depends on what you plan to juice. This is a centrifugal juicer. A sloped mesh basket with cutting tips spin very quickly and cut "scrape" against fruits and vegetables to produce juice. These types of juicers work best with non-leafy vegetables and fruit. They very quickly extract juice from carrots, celery, apples and eject the pulp out into a basket. I don't use this for citrus like orange, grapefruit, or lemons because it takes too much effort to remove their peel. For citrus you are better off using a citrus juicer. If you are planning to juice wheat grass, kale, or other leafy vegetables. This is not the juicer for you. You will need a masticating juicer which twist and crushes the vegetables. These type of juicers are sometimes referred to as cold press and they are much slower. They also do not work well with hard vegetables like carrots. I juice carrot, apple and celery. Sometimes I'll add beets or cucumbers and this Breville juicer does an excellent job. The juicer is very quick and begins juicing the moment you place the vegetables in the chute, even before you get a chance to use the plunger. There's a lot of talk about cold press being better because heat can destroy nutrients. I don't know how much of that is true and how much is marketing. The juice is extracted so quickly, I honestly don't think any nutrients will be lost to heat. I also keep my vegetables in the refrigerator so they are cold to begin with. I have not seen any studies which compare the nutrients from centrifugal juicers vs cold press masticating juicers. Pulp is extracted into a large (gallon) size container. It's not going to be completely dry. That won't happen with any of the centrifugal juicers because of the way they are designed. The baskets need to be sloped so that the pulp can slide up as the basket spins. Unless the baskets are vertical and the pulp just spins it won't completely dry. But those very old school vertical cutting basket designs will fill up quickly since the pulp has no where to go. You can only make a cup or two before those old machines start shaking. This juicer can keep juicing endlessly as long as the basket isn't full. The extracted pulp is dry enough and better than many other juicers of this design. You can always take the pulp and try to press out the remaining juice but it's not worth the effort. The only issue I've had is that sometimes the juice as it exits the spout into the pitcher, it will drip along the spout onto the counter. To prevent this from happening, I use the included spot attachment which directs the juice downwards so there is no spraying. Clean up is easy. There are 5 or 6 parts that come off easily and just need to be rinsed. They even included a brush to clean the cutting basket as that an be sharp. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend this juicer.
