  • Challenging Install: A Kohler ‎98804-CP-0 Purewash Elongated Manual Bidet Toilet Seat Review
The Kohler purewash elongated manual bidet toilet seat, made in China, comes with the toilet seat, mounting plate, T-valve, hose, hardware, and an installation booklet. Pressing the button on both sides of the toilet seat releases the seat from the mounting plate. The control knob on the left side activates either the front or back spray nozzle and its pressure setting. Installation requires the use of screwdrivers and an adjustable wrench. While installation is or should be straightforward, it may be advisable to check the installation instructions. My first attempt to install the T-valve resulted in an unresolvable leaking connection. I didn’t notice the rubber gasket had fallen onto the floor. Even when using the rubber gasket, the T-valve leaks until the connection is much tighter than indicated by the instructions. Plus, the float valve tube would turn in the tank while I attempted to tighten the T-valve to it. On the first day, I attached the mounting plate to the toilet and then snapped the toilet seat into place. Next, I attempted to connect the T-valve to the hoses and toilet. I eventually gave up on trying to connect the plumbing. I removed the T-valve and quickly reconnected the original hose to the toilet with no problem or leaks. My second attempt to connect the plumbing went better. I got the T-valve with the rubber gasket connected with a tolerable slight leak. I checked the hose connections every hour and tightened the problematic T-valve nut by about a 1/4 turn. After several attempts to get the connections tightened, the leak stopped. This connection shouldn’t be this difficult to achieve. Now that the plumbing is connected and leak-free, this manual bidet toilet seat works well. Unlike bidet attachments, the rear section of this integrated toilet seat is bulky. However, the spray wands are retracted into the rear section when not in use. When activated, these spray wands move into position. The lower-priced bidet attachments that I have used shoot water from the rear of the bowl towards the front. The arch of the spray shoots water at my hole that often then sprays into my sack. I prefer the retractable spray wands that put the water where it should be. If you’re attempting to be cost-effective, one of those bidet attachments can save some scratch. Although this Kohler purewash elongated manual bidet toilet seat may cost more, I feel the extra expense is worth it. Just expect a lengthy installation time to get the connections leak-free. ► PROS: Easily removable seat for cleaning Properly sprays water Simple to use ► CONS: Overly difficult installation A bulky area at the rear of the seat ... show more

  • Easy Install. Easy To Use.
This is a really easy to install manual bidet. I have this on an American Standard Champion 4 toilet, and it fits well but not perfect. It still performs with no problems. The seat is comfortable, and it has a slow closing mechanism, so you don't have to worry about slamming it in the middle of the night. The controls are easy to use. You have a feminine wash, and a back wash. On max, it does not hurt, and is still comfortable. The seat is easy to clean and so is the spray jet. It works without electricity and can only shoot out cold water. Make sure you tighten the connections tightly. I did not do that the first time, and it leaked down and ruined my ceiling on the first floor. I did not notice it was leaking because I thought it was tightened good at the T-valve, but it needs to be really tight. Mine does not leak anymore but be careful with that. It works well and is pricey. It looks nicer and better designed than the cheapo ones out there. I would recommend this. ... show more

  • Pricy as a manual bidet toilet seat!
You do have access of controlling the intensity of water and adjust spray position without the need for electricity. But the position of the manual controller is not user friendly. It was easy to install. It doesn’t require much plumber experience to connect the toilet seat to the water supply line.
