  • Great underwater camera
Color: Blue
We bought three of these cameras to use snorkeling in the USVI. The cameras worked very well, very happy with our purchase, and plan on buying more. I bought floating wrist straps which are easier to use while in the water than the ones that the cameras come with: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGWPCV6 At first the sounds that the cameras made were annoying, but we found that they were very useful underwater, since you could hear it turn on/off and could clearly hear a photo being taken. The battery life is ok, a lot of videos or flash photos can drain it. It would be nice if we could easily obtain additional batteries so that we could quickly "recharge". A few things that we learned from them: 1) Make sure that you have the camera close *and* the lock button engaged (red) or the seals will leak and things won't end well 2) Use the underwater scene mode. Much better than cell phones in a bag. 3) We could easily adjust the camera while snorkeling (turning flash on/off, for example) 4) The photos are "ok" out of the camera, if you have good light (the flash helps) then you can have some great shots 5) Lightroom does wonders with the photos from these cameras, I found working with dehaze, clarity, and texture (especially for deeper photos). For me, this ended up adding one star as many of our photos went from meh or toss to "omg thats amazing!" after a few adjustments. 6) For non underwater photos the cameras are ok, nowhere near as good as a cell phone. Would we buy these again? Absolutely, I've already ordered a replacement for the camera which we didn't lock. I'm very happy and looking forwards to taking them on other dives. ... show more

  • good pics; misleading "wifi" claims
Color: Yellow
For the price, the underwater photo quality is quite good. I like that the video button is NOT right next to the regular still photo button on top, but on the back next to the viewfinder LCD, so I'm not likely to confuse which type of pictures I'm taking. (My earlier camera had them side by side and I was constantly hitting the wrong button.) I like that it has a special "underwater" mode I can select ahead of time and leave it there, if that's mainly what you use it for, as I do. I like that when I press the video button a red led flashes next to the button - on the back of the camera - so I can tell it's recording without having to take my eyes off of the screen. What I dislike MOST is the "wifi" mode is advertised to connect with your "smart device"... but what they MEAN is "mobile device" ... a computer is "smart" (way smarter than a phone) but a computer can NOT connect to the camera via wifi. You have to download a IOS or Android app to access the wifi. So they shoudl make it clear BEFORE you buy it that the "wifi" feature is useless unless for some reason you want to clutter your PHONE's limited storage with your underwater camera photos. I also dislike that the LCD screen is quite dim... when shooting underwater in daylight it's REALLY hard to see the dim view finder, so I find myself "pointing and guessing" as to what is in frame. ... show more

  • Waterproof is it's finest moment!
Color: Yellow
As an ex 'photo-pro' I wanted the exact opposite of a manual camera. As it turns out, my phone does better at point-and-shoot. In full auto mode, this camera tends to pick ridiculously slow shutter speeds, rendering blurred pictures. Sea level or below, you will need to go into manual MODE, set the shutter speed to 1/250th of a sec and raise the ASA, or set it to 'auto'. 1/60th sec shutter speed is all you need in low light, the flash will make the exposure at short distances, but who want's to mess with that? Set the flash to auto. When you hit the MODE button, you have to hold it down to be able to select the shutter & ASA settings - the instructions are very vague and not worth a damn. There is no stabilization for video, so take a Valium and steady your grip - or use a tripod. There is that typically annoying digital camera delay on the shutter button. Be patient, it will show you if you got the shot. Takes a nice picture when you set it right. IF YOU ARE A SNORKELER OR SCUBA DIVER: You can take this down with you - up to [stated] 50 ft. Also, as an ex diver, the color balance underwater is different. You can take a picture of a very colorful scene - with a regular camera in a waterproof "housing"...."down there", come back to the surface, load it up on your PC, and it looks like dog doo. However, this camera has an underwater mode that color corrects for this. This, plus waterproof housing, is a huge plus for underwater shutterbugs. So, for the bright side - 16 megapixels [overkill for sharing on the web] and it doesn't drown when it gets wet! I will take this out on my kayak and leave my expensive phone in a "drybag"! I bought this strictly for wet, swampy adventures. Back in the 70's, when I was scuba diving, you couldn't even dream of affording this camera - IF it had ever even existed - in a dream back then! And if it had existed, it would have been as big and heavy as a car battery. ... show more
