    • Unmistakable high quality.
I just had a professional chef move into the house, and his immediate comment after checking out these knives was, "This is a really nice set." German stainless steel, and the handles are held on by stainless rivets. The block is well made, but the outer color is due to being finish stained which should hold up for a long time. You'll notice in the knife troughs that the stain didn't go down in there. Overall, a very good choice of color, and I love the figuring in the wood that the stain really makes proud. I wanted to have a complete set with all of the different types; for example, a paring knife. Years ago, I was accumulating Henkel Four Stars which are super expensive, but the Hodge podge collection I have now is superseded by this complete collection, and all at a very nice price.     • A Sharp, Well-Made Set Of Kitchen Knives
The Aokeda kitchen knives were ordered for use in our home and live-in apartment. I was impressed with this set of knives from the moment the package was opened. The knives came in a separate container than the kitchen block. Each knife was individually encased in its own celephane wrapper. In addition the tip of each knife had a silicone or plastic protective sheath so that it could not puncture something or be damaged in transit. Right out of the box, these knives are sharp, really sharp. I've been around knives of all sorts for many years, and these were some of the sharpest I've ever seen. There are 15 knives, some kitchen shears, a knife sharpener, and the wooden storage block. That is a really good complement of kitchen knives, and each knife was incredibly sharp. The 3cr13mov steel is a martinsitic stainless steel that is composed of .3% carbon and 13% chromium. It is steel that is desirable for knife manufacturing that is both strong and durable. The wooden block is sturdy and each knife has its own designed slide compartment. The block has also been been stained for added beauty. One of the features of these knives that I really like is the handles. The handles are made of ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) which makes them a strong and durable polymer. ABS is also food safe. I've had knives with wooden handles in the past, and frankly did not like the handles. These handles fit my hands with no rough edges. BOTTOM LINE: We have a few "professional" knives that cost as much or more than this set each. However, this set of knives came with a quality and sharpness that rivals those of the much higher priced knives we have had in the past. They are sharp, balanced, and have handles that are as good as any in our home. I would definitely order this set again. ... show more

I’m NOT a professional. I want that disclaimer to be known. These however, seem to be. With a HRC of 55 give or take 2, they are on par with all the other German stainless steel knives. I do like the information etched in on the knives so I knew which one was accidently placed in the steak knife slot and didn’t belong there when I was putting them in the block. I love the riveted ergonomic handle. It feels nice and familiar in my hands. I love how they cut better! That is one of my favorite things with HRC 55 and above knives! You can compare it with a cheap dollar knife like you would cutting firewood with a hatchet vs wood splitting axe! While you can do the job, the proper tool will make it easier and faster! It REALLY IS worth paying the extra for the proper tools in the kitchen! I like how they advertise caring for your knives rather than encouraging you to cut hammers, stones, and wood before your tomatoes. I really wanted this set for the steak knives being included! I will also praise the shears as well! They don’t come apart like my previous pair did and I appreciate that! My only complaint was the rubber feet stapled on the bottom didn’t have the care in quality and craftsmanship like the knives themselves. I had to remove the staple and redo it properly myself on one of them. All is perfect now! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This AOKEDA Chef Knife Set is SHARP! I know, I know . . . a bad pun, but these knives really are sharp, nice looking and perfect for an amateur chef like myself. Each knife is comfortable to hold and nicely weighted. This high-quality set of knives is sturdy, lightweight and easy to sharpen. As a bonus, they even come pre-sharpened. The knives also have a very fine edge. You have your choice of several knives to dice up your vegetables or slice through steak. Each knife is stored safely in its own slot in a wood block. The wooden storage block is a dark brown that shows the grain. It’s heavy so it will not easily tip over and it takes up minimal counter space. Nice set of decent quality knives. Nice assortment of steak knives, bread knife, chef knife etc... The only complain I have is the wood block holder. It's literally just a block of wood, doesn't appear to have any protective lacquer or anything. Also when you put the knives back in, if you don't slide them in perfectly they'll actually cut into the block and leave knife slashes all over it! Would've been better if the block were polyurethane or atleast heavily coated with a liner inside the holders especially since they used wood. ... show more
