  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, does not come with glue.
I have not yet been able to play this, but I have only had it for 15 minutes. Also, I am a complete amateur so this probably isn't the company's fault. The only things I dislike about this flute is that it did not come with the required glue. I hear that you can use chopped garlic to replace this, and I will be trying that. Also, the wrapping was twisted in on itself and taped really weirdly. Overall, I think you get what you pay for. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good but so hard to use
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 10 year old daughter, she is very musical. This thing is unbelievably hard to get a note from, I’ve never played the flute, but I’ve played around with them before and was able to get a note. After 15-20 min I got what sounded like a note, thats as far as I got. For an experienced wind instrument connoisseur I’m sure this thing would be easy, but for amateurs it’s basically a paperweight unless you want to put ours an hours into learning technique. The quality is “looks good but you can tell its cheap up close”. Also they give zero video guidance and very little instruction from the product page. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars you get what you're paying for
it's a $20 flute that does flute things. it's not a toy and it looks cheap. Take the phrase "made in china" and apply it in the worst possible way. It smells like plastic and chemicals. I'm not sure whether it's laminated bamboo or just plain plastic with bamboo color on it. It's also hard to play. But come on, it's $20. student flutes are like $200 and professional flutes are easily >$1000. It's decently in tune and has the right holes drilled into it what more are you looking for? ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Piece of art & music
This just arrived & sooner than I expected, so it is in time for Christmas, which I didn't expect. It arrived, I opened it (was nervous when I felt two pieces inside) was amazed at how absolutely beautiful this is!!! I am not the musician, so I can't speak for that part of it, but will try to update on that when I find out. But aesthetically speaking, it's really gorgeous. The presentation was lovely, & came with a red velvety bag, & 2 things I assume are needed for the flute, & each is packaged in these cute little tiny boxes with writing. The flute itself, I put the two pieces together easily, & was just so amazed at how beautiful it is. It has beautiful lettering on it, no idea what it says, but it just adds to the beauty. It looks more like a piece of art that you would show in a case that normally I could not afford so this is just wonderful. I will try to update when my husband uses it and can tell me how it plays, but I'm so happy already, with the earlier than expected delivery, & gorgeous piece of art, from my not so musical opinion. Thank you to the seller for the fast shipping. Love the flute so far, hope he does too!!! ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty and inexpensive bamboo flute with a nice tone--no glue or instructions, though
Very pretty bamboo flute with Chinese characters, a tassel, a membrane package (don't miss it, it's very flat and small), and a nice red velvet storage bag. It was both wider and longer than I expected--about 1" circumference and probably about 21" long or so. Very nice for under $14!!! The seller delivered through Prime in two days, exactly as promised. I did take off one star because there are no instructions, not even how to attach the tassel and nothing about gluing the membrane in place. Also there's no chart to show how to finger any of the notes. Of course, the product description does not say that it includes ANY of these things, so there was certainly no false advertising. However, I think it's normal to assume it would come with a bit of instructions, at least regarding the glue and membrane so I did take off a little for that. (I'm counting on You Tube to supply the needed information). Pretty, inexpensive and it seems to have a nice tone (this is key of D, a common choice although there are also ones in G, E or C). I'm very pleased with it so far. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Beatiful and Plays Great
Arrived on time. Looks great! Nice case, tassel, membrane papers. Just like any bamboo flute the embouchure is the toughest thing to master. The only drawback is there was not even a sheet of instructions or a little songbook or something. The cool thing is that it is very similar to the pennywhistle in fingering and pitch, so I could play a lot of tunes immediately. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars This is a perfect entry level bamboo flute
This is a perfect entry level bamboo flute! It's has good build quality, looks very nice, plays and sounds great; provided you are able to play/figure it out, and make it sound great. I grabbed this without knowing anything about flutes or wind-instruments in general. A few youtube tutorials and inspirational vids and you should be able to figure it out in no time. Being able to play takes time, practice, time, and more practice! So do it, get good, and experience the immense satisfaction that comes from being able to make music. Again, great starting piece! If you already know how to play a bamboo flute, you may want to look into something of higher (and more expensive) quality since you should already be able to put notes together and blowing techniques for good songs. You'll want the better sounding bamboo flutes (which can be amazing). Care for it is very simple, and getting/applying the membranes is a simple enough task as well. Again, youtube and google is your friend for learning these things. It's all out there. ... show more
