    • The worst tool I have ever bought for my shop
This package came so damaged I think my ex-girlfriends got together and shipped it like that as a joke.somehow the pieces floating around were not missing and using common sense I assembled it because the directions are garbage. The motor unit was caved in but somehow functional. The operating “head” of the unit does not sit straight and lays at an angle but somehow the chuck is straight. The Chuck has a visible wobble that I cannot correct. The only reason it gets two stars is because it is cheap and it functions at a very basic level which is a miracle. The first test I did was throw a 1 1/8 forstner bit on and test it in 4 inch untreated pine and it hung up with proper technique. Now I have to buy a new standing drill press because I contacted Northern and they offered me 20% back a month ago (which I haven’t received) or to ship it back on my dime which would be so impossible and expensive that I’m not going to waste my time. I will be buying a WEN 4227 when they are back in stock because despite the price they always sell me a stellar tool. ... show more

    • The unit itself works great. The shipping packaging leaves something to be desired
when the package arrived i saw a lot of damage to the cardboard packaging' When i unwrapped it the cover for the v-belt assembly was badly damaged and the plastic housing for the on/off switch was broken. I contacted Amazon and the supplier, Northern Tool, contacted me very quickly and sent me replacement items for the damaged ones. I was able to install the new parts and the drill press works just fine. No issues with how it works. ... show more

    • Poor packaging and terrible handling
When this was received I was amazed to see all of it was still there. It was literally destroyed I had to have the driver stay while I inspected it. The only part that was damaged was the switch assembly. It is a shame that it was so mishandled

    • Recieved broken item that was unusable, and was offered NO help what so ever
It had been dropped, or struck hard enough to dent the motor cover into the fins on the drive motor. It also broke flexible light, and switch is very loose. I emailed and they dont seem to care.

    • Fantastic upgrade
This was an upgrade for a 10" bench model, and quite a welcome addition. Added a cross-vise and now it's practically a small mill! Instead of bolting it to the floor, I put about #150 of weight on the floor plate, it does NOT move, and that greately lowered any likelihood it could be tipped over.
