A few years back I quit coloring my hair and let the natural color grow out. Turns out it's been a very nice silvery-white under there. My hairdresser recommended I use an anti-yellowing shampoo from his pricey salon line, to keep it that way. I was skeptical--this stuff was a deep purple color--but I tried it. Within a few weeks, my white hair had acquired a distinctly lavender tint. NOT what I was looking for! So I went in search of an anti-yellowing shampoo for gray hair that wasn't purple or blue. The only one I found was the old formula of Klorane. I tried it and liked the way it left my hair: soft, healthy, and silvery-white. I used it regularly for several years. But then Klorane got on the purple bandwagon, and now their anti-yellowing shampoo for gray hair is that same deep purple. I looked for an alternative, but almost every gray hair shampoo on the market these days is blue or purple. So finally, reluctantly, I tried the new purple Klorane. And it's NOT turning my hair purple! The color of the stuff still makes me nervous--I keep checking my hair under different light to see if I detect a hint of lavender--but so far, so good. ... show more

I really hate this new formula. It doesn’t lather as well or smell as nice, and it leaves my hair very dry. I loved the original white shampoo which left my hair much softer and still removed the yellow. I will be looking for a new product.

I have bought the klorane shampoo in the past--liked it better before the purple color and larger container...HOWEVER that is not my complaint. It arrived in a plastic bag, thankfully, because it had leaked all over the inside of the bag. Annoyed. UPDATE: They sent me a second bottle--second picture. The top is off the bottle inside their plastic bag--an even WORSE mess!! Took another star off. ... show more

This is not the same as the old formula, which I miss. I liked the old formula's white color, the degree of whitening, and its scent was indescribably pleasant. The new formula has some different ingredients and the addition of purple color, and the scent is not as pleasant, but really it isn't bad. New formula still freshens up my white/gray and lessens the yellow tones, but I think the old formula was better at it. The new formula makes my hair softer and less "squeaky" and tangled than the old formula. It works well with the conditioner also. ... show more

My hair is white, unfortunately it does have some yellow streaks..this shampoo has totally eliminated the yellow..I have tried several of the purple shampoos but Klorane has worked better than the others..will continue to order this shampoo and conditioner.
