  • Very clear sound
It’s quite nice sounding and very nice looking. Has some power, and with a smooth bass it can growl. With heavy and sharp bass, it gets a little distorted at anything above 50% volume. It looks retro, and quite honestly it sounds a bit retro. If you’re used to Bose, or JBL, then you may find it a bit “tinny” sounding. Give your ears a chance ti adjust however, and you’ll likely end up saying the Bose sounds muddy and muffled. I have both in my house. Bose sounds more power rock, and this sounds more Ray Charles like. Doubt a teenager or heavy metal fan would like it, but everything else sounds excellent. If you’re into Jazz, classic rock, blues, and so on, you’ll love this! It’s looks speak for themselves. It’s very easy to live with. Use the eq on your phone/ipad to make sound adjustments. Will DEFINITELY fill up a large room with music, easily! At $200-$300, it is a great buy. ... show more

  • A high quality Bluetooth speaker
I wanted something a cut above for my office at work. After looking about, a lot, I settled on the Klipsch The Three II. I’m happy with the purchase. I already have a Bose Soundlink Mini and the Klipsch is much better. The sound is fuller, as it should be since it is a stereo unit. Clarity and detail are acceptable. I have a person in the office with a Bang and Olufsen Beoplay, it’s a very good speaker but I think the Klipsch has better sound. While some reviews have said The Three II is heavy on bass, that’s not been my experience. I think both the Bose and B and O I spoke of were heavier on bass making the sound more muddy and much less detailed. The Klipsch has better clarity. This is a very positive review but we need to keep one thing in mind, while very good, it is still a Bluetooth speaker with all the same challenges. To have In An office, kitchen, bedroom, it’s just fine. It is no replacement for a proper Hi-Fi system. The speaker is also very attractive. I have people comment regularly on how stylish it is. The only negative I really have is the remote control can be a bit sketchy. Works great for volume and navigating tracks but will not turn the unit on. I’m mostly okay with that. If you want a Bluetooth speaker that stands out and has a unique, quality sound signature, then Klipsch The Three II is worth considering. ... show more

  • Loud but Unbalanced (and quirky)
This little box puts out a surprisingly rich deep sound. Its capacity for sheer loudness is driven by a booming subwoofer, which tends to overwhelm the mid- and treble range. As a result, while classical music sounds full and deep, spoken word (e.g. NPR, podcasts, etc) gets smothered under a booming bass-heavy output, almost like hearing a neighbor's loud radio through a wall or ceiling. Clearly the manufacturers wanted to claim a high-volume output, but at the cost of clarity. So now I listen happily to music on the Klipsch but rely on my iphone speaker for news and podcasts. Still worth it I guess, but I suspect the smaller Klispch One has more balanced sound at the expense of total gain. As for other features, I love the design and simplicity, but some key features are wonky. It has a convenient USB port on the back which can charge an iPhone. However, when the phone is plugged to both USB to charge and the aux cable for sound input, it creates electrical interference and ruins the sound. So, unless you want to use bluetooth, you can either charge your device or play music but not both at the same time. Also the device must be swtiched ON to charge the phone rather than having a passive pass-through power connection. These are silly and needless engineering oversights that could have been remedied with a little foresight on Kliupsch's part. Despite its quirks, the Three II delivers loud rich sound for music, so if that's your goal it's worth suffering the small stuff. But you are a spoken word person, or like machines that work without little hassles, best to look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Great Sound
Very nice table top unit. Wood veneer is high quality feel and look as well as the vintage grey cloth. Bought this to replace the smaller "The Ones II" and sound is a bit better and it comes with a remote. "The Ones II" was still a great sound also so you can't go wrong with either. The decider is probably if you want a remote or not. Both are super. ... show more

  • Beautiful with good sound (for what it is)
If you're looking at The Three, you're probably intrigued by the looks and our experience so far is that the sound quality is right in line with most quality mono speakers. First off, it looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. 5/5 for design and build quality, it looks fantastic in our modern home. If you are shopping for looks, rest assured that the sound is good and you can stop reading right here. Getting a bit more involved: This is a basic Bluetooth connection setup with the pluses and minuses associated with such. Flip the switch "on" and it's pretty much ready to go. Only weird thing is that the sound knob works independently of your source volume, kind of old-school. So you can make adjustments to volume on your phone but I find there's a balance you need to find so there's not any background hiss from turning up either the source or the speaker too much. For sound quality, while it sounds quite good in a bedroom or small space, the mids are a bit weak and washed out so it's not going to fill a big space without getting boomy. But that's true of virtually every small/midsized mono-speaker so I can't fault it too much. Bass is a bit heavy even tuned with an iphone EQ, also typical of this type of speaker. Overall, it sounds about the same as most $200 speakers but you pay a premium for the design and build quality. For comparison, let me first say that there's no substitute for stereo pairs. The Three fills a room pretty well but isn't going to create a wide soundstage like a stereo pair of speakers does. We have a pair of Sonos 1's in our kitchen and individually The Three sounds better but against a stereo pair it can't compete. For us, this is the perfect speaker for our bedroom and we will leave the "heavy lifting" for our HiFi system, hidden stereo needs for the Sonos and appreciate The Three for what it is: a beautiful and compact speaker that sounds really good. ... show more
