Description

Great sound begins with great bottom end. The Klipsch Sub-12 HG subwoofer delivers the two lowest octaves of the ten humans can hear, intensifying your listening and viewing experiences. The down-firing driver and rear-firing port produces increased bass response with low distortion, filling the room with warm, rich bass you feel almost as much as you hear. The Sub-12 HG gets its intensity from a 12-inch, down-firing driver coupled to a highly efficient BASH amplifier that creates 300 watts of continuous power and 650 watts of dynamic power. The subwoofer's built-in, steep-slope low-pass crossover is continuously adjustable from 40 to 120Hz. A phase control facilitates acoustical integration of the subwoofer with the other speakers in the system. An "auto power" feature enables the subwoofer to turn itself on and off automatically, based on the presence or absence of an audio signal. A blue/red dual color LED display on the front of the subwoofer indicates whether the unit is on or in standby mode. In addition to its ability to play louder and go deeper than anything else in its class, the Sub-12 HG features an industrial design that is refined and aggressive. Available in a high gloss black finish with titanium accents, this extraordinary subwoofer will fit into your décor. Because it wraps technical superiority and eye-catching cosmetics into one affordable package, the Sub-12 HG perfectly anchors a home theater or two-channel system.

abunda_amazon_reviews Very good budget sub. I'm listening to 2 channel music with this sub as I write this review. It blends very well with my front left and right speakers. Bass is smooth and deep. Subwoofer is fairly articulate. It does tend to growl a bit but that is mainly during movies. For two channel music this sub does a good job for the price. For movies, this sub is awesome for the price. Bass can be overpowering and a bit boomy during movies but that just adds an extra dimension to movie watching where you both watch and feel the movie at the same time. For those complaining that this sub is too weak or that it puts out muddy bass, they do not have this sub set up right. I have the plate amp turned up to 75% of it's full power. I have the crossover set to 120hz to in effect, bypass the sub's internal crossover and let my receiver set the crossover for the sub and speakers. I have the crossover in my receiver set to 60hz. I find this is the best blend for tight, lowend bass from a subwoofer without neutering the midbass from my speakers. Those that are saying the sub is too weak either have the crossover set to low on the sub's plate amp or don't have the sub signal turned up high enough on your receiver. Those who are complaining that the sub's bass is too muddy probably are using it at too high of a crossover. Trying to use this sub with satellite speakers with a 120hz crossover set on your receiver will result in bloated, muddy bass. Most budget subs do not blend well above 80hz. I've had over twenty subwoofers and forty pairs of speakers so I know good bass when I hear it. My living room has a pair of Stereo Integrity 24" custom built subwoofers which are the best subs I've heard in any price range. So I am an experienced audiophile and I can firmly tell you this is a solid sub for the money.;;Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2016;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;Wonderful budget subwoofer;;Barrett Withers;;/gp/customer-reviews/RLK89T9NW0C68/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003VIWK0G;;;I purchased the Klipsch 12" synergy subwoofer over the Polk Audio 12" PsW505 due to the specs and reviews. This is best used for small to medium rooms, and for a medium large room you may benefit more from multiples. After doing some room calibration with a PEQ eliminating the room modes the sub has proven able to be both authoritative and musical without a hint of struggle in my smaller apartment. There is no port "boom" or flabby sound from this - anyone that claims such is likely mistaking room acoustic issues for the sub as they are exciting modes they didn't have before. In some ways this is a testament to the lower output from the sub being capable, but I digress. However, it's not a perfect sub. It will not reach down to 20hz, it mostly rolls off at around 30hz. For true 20hz performance there are better subs out there - given at twice the cost this is currently going for. Equally, most cheaper subs tend to roll-off around 40hz so this is pretty solid competition in price to performance at its current going cost. There might be some cheaper or similarly priced/better solutions if you're willing to DIY - but many here likely won't have the patience or time (at the time I myself did not). Effectively the only downfalls of this is the limited output for medium large and greater room and the size - unfortunately good ported subs require the enclosure to be large, so this isn't the fault of the sub or a bad thing, but rather expected of competent design. So where does that leave us? Well, it's definitely not a five star product as the value isn't off the charts but is rather reasonable at it's current level (and would be unreasonable at MSRP). On the other hand, I can't think of a budget commercial sub that is quite comparable making it probably one of the top budget subs to have. As such I think it deserves a solid 4/5.;;Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2016;;4.0 out of 5 stars;;Solid sub, solid performance for a reasonable price.;;Andrew K;;/gp/customer-reviews/R3L1JY90W6XYB1/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B003VIWK0G
