  • Cracked our concrete foundation (almost)
Style: Wireless
I replaced a Harmon Kardon 8" downfire sub that was part of a full theater in a box set purchased about 10 years back. The HK receiver died (HK's recent lack of quality parts will be their doom). But the sub (and center) were OK so other gear was purchased and now in a much larger room than the HK theater package was. Pic of room has 75" TV and 106"L cabinet for scale. Even making adjustments on new Sony receiver I was hearing bass notes but not deep/rich/thick/substantial. It was "just there" kinda flat sound, no body to it, did not sound alive if any of that makes sense. I ordered the Kilpsch thinking if I don't hear much improvement Jeff Bezos will just have to take it back. And if I keep it, the wireless part might be important some day even though not needed right now. I installed the Klipsch and set everything to moderate levels (receiver and sub settings). Turned it on and the bass volume rumbled our furniture & walls - seriously! I thought the sub had a blow speaker or horrible distortion for the first few seconds. After cranking everything down to minimums and slowly uping the adjustments this thing has rocked my world. I'm not a high volume guy but this thing is solid and such a vast improvement over the 8"HK. Huge, HUGE, no wait, H-U-G-E sound (and feel) without distortion and at lower volumes. This sub has added a bunch to my sound quality spectrum and enjoyment. It somehow has a seeming effect of improving the BS5 front speakers. So happy, I'm like a kid again (but 60 really). For ~$220 delivered this thing has jumped up my audio system a ton. I run lower cost - not low quality gear but I research things to death and I can overthink any purchase. Now my wife and daughter don't understand why anyone wants audio gear and are all about home decor so I expected pushback for a "bigger black box" but when they saw rhe copper color speaker they thought it went well with out leather sectional. So I not only got to keep the sub but with the grill removed! Must be an act of God right there. If I had to say something negative it would be the cabinet size is large. The actual install depth is 21-1/4" with the power plug. So placed next to a typical cabinet of 18"-20" depth this sticks out just a bit more. And the pegs that would hold on the grill are metal and don't seem removable so they are a potential snag or injury if you walk too close. Those are a bit of a stretch for bad comments. Note: my neighbor has a wireless sub, I don't know brand and is battery powered transmitter. Battery died and sub began blaring with audio system off! Scared them plenty. This Klipsch uses a (supplied) 5v micro USB that plugs to 120vac for the transmitter so no battery to die. And I really like the cabinet texture. Feels like a brushed aluminum not just a standard black vinyl. Not that anyone will care but list of gear is below. Sony STR-DH590 5.2receiver. Neumi BS5 fronts placed inside large cabinet (socks plugging front ports). HK center (unknown model number)placed inside top center drawer of cabinet. Klipsch R-1650-C rears in the 11' high ceiling. ... show more

  • Most BASS for the Buck and easy to sync to your existing Audio Setup
Style: Wireless
This was better than expected. My RT5000 system... I had an amp go bad so I was looking for an easy way to add some BASS to our home theater. This was super easy to set up, the range is great, volume is easy to dial in and the quality is better than I expected.

  • Quality subwoofer
Style: Wireless
The subwoofer arrived new and undamaged, and it functions as intended. It is part of an all klipsch 2.1 system hooked to the hta 100 Dayton audio hybrid tube amplifier via a specific 6 ft subwoofer cord with more insulation due to the purpose of the cord. In other words the cord is not an ordinary rca to rca patch cord. Since placement is in a conventional location, the right corner wall I chose to " hardwire " it conventionally instead of using the wireless feature. It will work either way, but in my present " acoustically alive " living room" the conventional corner location is convenient to hardwire by a 6 ft subwoofer cord. When I move, it may be more advantageous to use wireless. I certainly retain the wireless transmitter for possible future use. Quite frankly, the only reason I got the wireless version is because it was a more is less priced item. It was actually cheaper than the same subwoofer model without wireless capability. More was less. Can't lose in a case like that. The subwoofer is an upgrade compared to a Dayton audio 10" sub I upgraded from. These same subwoofers were considerably higher priced than they are now. Don't let the low price fool you into thinking it must not be that good. Klipsch sold this exact wireless subwoofer for $ 449.00 at one time. It is far from the most expensive klipsch subwoofer, and they have alot of subwoofers in the 12 inch size that cost more but in my case, and I think some others as well, this subwoofer is more than sufficient. It gets the job done quite well. My system is 2.1 but I have no doubt it would do well with 5.1 or 7.1 and such as well. 5 stars categorically for price , value , functionality, shipping speed etc. In all these major areas 5 stars from me. It has that copper color sub speaker look that matches that klipsch signature subwoofer and woofer look. I have chosen to use the grill in my case. That is a matter of personal preference of course. Update January 27th Initially used conventionally by hardwire, but switched to wireless past few months. I had to synchronize the transmitter and subwoofer only one time. Since then it works flawlessly in wireless mode. ... show more

  • Impressive base, but...
Style: Wireless
This subwoofer has impressive sound, but it's much too big for small rooms. I have it in my open floor plan living/dining room that's roughly 25x15, and it's still overwhelming. It's behind my sectional sofa, and even there is will shake the cabinets and vibrate pictures on the wall. I have it dialed back with a foam plug in the reflex port, and this keeps is manageable for the most part. The remote function works perfectly, no speaker wires, and the auto shutoff also works as advertised. I recommend, but only for larger rooms. ... show more

  • Great sounds. Takes time to turn on
Style: Wireless
Very deep and warm base sound. Easy to install. It can take sometimes between 10-15 minutes between when I start watching a movie until the subwoofer turns on from standby mode, even though I connected it with cable and not Wi-Fi. Tried tuning the settings but nothing helps.

  • Serious bass
Style: Wireless
I use these wired, haven't tried wireless but really happy with the punch these add to games and movies. Also sound great listening to music, double bass never sounded so good! They're monstrous in size, really too big for the room I'm using them in but the price difference between the 12" and 10" was low enough to go with the bigger ones even though a slight overkill. ... show more
