  • Excellent, easy to use tool.
I tired other "sniffers" that were just completely worthless. This tool is very simple to operate and conclusively confirms whether there is a gas leak--and if so, where it is coming from. The variable response alert system shows the intensity of any leak, or even better, no leak at all. It is very clear, thereby imparting full confidence in the results. (Because it showed I did not have a leak at the time, I tested this by opening an unlit gas burner and "searched" for it. It worked perfectly.) An invaluable, easy too use tool for all-important peace of mind. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great leak detector for R290
I use this to look for leaks on refrigeration systems using R290. It works great but the power button is very sensitive. It it's soft case if anything bumps the front the power goes on and drains the batteries. Since I only use this for certain jobs I have to pull the battery pack out of the back so they will still have a charge the next time I need it. ... show more

  • The best value of money that I ever invested.
The best gas leak detector I ever bought. There are two safety gas leak. High level of detection, which I love it. And low level of detection, which still I love it. It will detect quick before your nose detect it. The best value of money that I ever invested.

  • Great gas leak tester.
Only complaint I have with this, is the calibration takes 30 seconds outdoors but other than that it’s been working well for home inspections. Sensitivity on this is very dialed in as well.

  • Great tool, but there's a learning curve
We had bought a new house, and I kept thinking I sometimes caught a whiff of natural gas when I walked through the laundry area. I knew there was a capped off gas line behind the electric dryer. Natural gas is serious business so I got this detector, read the instructions, and started sniffing around. I found there was a leak, but not behind the dryer. It was the gas cutoff valve for the fireplace close by. My nose up against the valve confirmed this. I had a licensed plumber come and replace the valve. After finishing I tested the valve again and a small amount registered. The plumber said the detector was defective. I kept testing after the plumber left and the results slowly went back to zero after about 30 minutes. I figured that, at as low as 50 ppm, some very small amounts of whatever the detector detects linger for some time before total absence. Over the next couple of days I worked the valve and retested and it always registered zero. For something this expensive I wish the sensor lasted more that five to seven years. ... show more

  • Had to fix it before I could use it, NOT Klein's fault
The Klein detector itself is 5-star. I rated it lower because of how I received the item and its condition. It was an Amazon used item at reduced cost, but I expected the item to atleast have been checked to see if it worked. Upon receiving, i tried powering it on, nothing happened. So I checked to seen if it had batteries in it, it did. I noticed the one battery was not installed in the battery cartridge correctly and I attempted to fix that. But it wouldn't stay in. After looking a bit more at it, I saw that the metal terminal connections for the batteries were missing on the one side and these would hold the batteries in place and also make the needed contact to the device to power it. I am a bit of a MacGyver so I took similar terminals from a donor device and modified them to make my unit work. I then searched Klein's website, and all of the internet for a replacement power cartridge and even called Klein customer service, but the item is not available separately and nowhere could I find it online. The unit worked after fixing it. But if this happened to someone not as tech savvy as myself, it wouldn't be the same case. So I am disappointed that Amazon did not or does not inspect their "used" items before listing them for resale. Overall Klein is a great company and great tools. For the 15$ I saved by buying a used device, I'd have purchased brand new if I had known this beforehand. How or why the terminals were not in cartridge is a mystery, but someone attempted to install batteries into the unit which should've been a dead give away when the batteries were not clicking in. So I feel a bit deceived by Amazon over this. ... show more
