I ordered this on the suspicion I might have a small gas leak outside. It came next day, and the instructions are very clear. Once it calibrates (about 30 seconds), you test it with a lighter or gas stove to make sure it can detect gas. This clocked the gas leak on the suspected fitting on both the high and low settings in SECONDS, so I called the gas company. Their machine costs about $12,000 and took 2 setting changes and about 25 minutes to detect the leak, even when I told them where I thought it was - their machine was not picking it up until they went to super sensitive. Luckily the leak was outside and very very small as well as an easy and fast fix. But I am very thankful to have purchased this. I will recommend this to everyone for both their tool bags and home use! ... show more

This is a must-have for campers and users of Mr. Heater Buddies. This thing works like a charm. You can check for leaks at the tank connections and the heater. I use it to determine when propane has reached the pilot light. When purging the line to the heater I simply hold it in front of the pilot, while holding down the button, I just wait until it beeps. No more trying to light it over and over...wondering if the propane has made it to the pilot. It gives both an audible alarm, a bar graph, as well as the light turning red. Great product. I cannot say if it is accurate in terms of concentration numbers. I can say it is accurate at detecting leaks, it found small seeps that bubbles were hard to detect with and tests very easily against a lighter as a validation of function. So if you are looking for a small light and reasonable leak detector for propane, butane and Natural Gas, I can say that it works well for me. ... show more

Simple and easy to use and works great. Appreciate the included batteries. This great product gives me peace of mind. Sometimes I think I smell gas around my water heater or furnace and this gives me the peace of mind to know that there is nothing leaking. Update: So today I thought I smelled gas near my water heater and the alarm did go off even at the lower setting. The gas company came out and immediately detected a leak. Had a weird smell near my Jotul gas stove. It’s been bugging me for a while. Couldn’t find where and no one else could smell it. Finally decided to buy a detector and this looked like a good choice. Within minutes of turning this detector on I found it! Leak in the small tube connection at the pilot. Nut was snug but tube seemed a little loose. Tightened it up and retested. No leak.
