  • Teeth are sharp enough to grip! Orange at the end is METAL, not plastic
So the big concern I have about ANY basin wrench, having used them for years, is "are the teeth sharp enough to grip the pipe properly?" I've seen several low-cost models with *rounded* teeth! Seriously! Hahaha what?? Well on this Klein they unfortunately put hard plastic over the jaw end of it on the display card, so you have no way to feel the teeth without buying it, opening it up, and trying them. I have good news: yep, the teeth on the jaws are sharp enough. Stick your thumb in and see. :) Not "sharp" to a "cut you" degree, just sharp enough to grip the metal pipe you are trying to turn. The other BIG concern I had was that orange thing at the end, designed for a 3/8 ratchet if you want extra torque. To me, orange = plastic, and I knew that would last for exactly 1 turn if I was using it for extra torque. Nope, metal! Just painted orange for some reason. One "problem" that nearly all basin wrenches have, including this one, is the handle slides back and forth easily. So if the wrench is at an angle, that handle won't stay in the middle where you put it while you are way up under a sink. The only basin wrench I've found that fixes that problem is the ridiculously expensive and heavy Rigid thing. Too bad, cause that wrench in nearly un-usable in the real world, imho. (If a friend wants to get rid of theirs for $1, do it). The other odd thing, that might actually be a feature and not a bug, is that the outer tube will slide all the way off if you press the lock pin in. Most of these are "staked" in some way to prevent that. But hey, depending on how tight and cramped the plumbing situation is, that might be a good thing. Take it off and use a wrench to turn it. The handle might have gotten in the way. All in all, recommended! Does the job for what it is and is one of the very few with acceptably sharp teeth to actually grip the pipe. ... show more

  • Extremely useful for accessing tight and hard-to-reach spaces
The Klein Tools Basin Wrench is an essential tool for working in tight, hard-to-reach spaces. Its bottom opening is designed to fit 3/8-inch socket wrenches, making it especially useful for plumbing and under-sink applications.

Basin Wrench feels like good quality material, very durable, and a fairly sleek design. Klein hasn’t let me down yet! Would definitely purchase again

  • Good tool
Returned but only because it didn’t fit my sink. Appears to be a good solid tool
