Before purchase many said you'd have to fiddle with the settings to get the best result. True. Took me about 8 expresso pulls to get close to where it needs to be. I do a double shot mocha each morning. In order to get the grind size small enough (to achieve the desired pressure on the gage) I had to max out the fine/course slider on fine AND do the additional adjustment described in the manual to get even finer. It's not hard to do the additional adjustment to the burr grinder just sort of annoying there isn't more headroom on the slider to the fine side to start. I have the commercial Kitchenaid range, dishwasher, pro 600 mixer, and some other stuff from them. This machine follows along their philosophy of a solidly built machine bordering on professional quality. Only had it a week so no long term review but pleased so far and at $800 it's a lot cheaper than the truly pro stuff. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I appreciate a strong espresso in the morning. So far everything is working. I’ve only made a couple of items from the recipe book. The bean grinder is quiet and so far everything is working. I’m new to espresso machines so maybe I should have done this review a year from now. But presently, I’m happy. Im a kitchenaid fan. I use my standing mixer all the time and have all sorts of attachments for it. I’ve also used several espresso machines. This one was not intuitive, the instructions were trash, and their were limited to no customer video walk through online. I followed the instructions to purge water through the system in the manual and then by following the video online because the manual instructions were awful. After I did that, I tried to run the machine, it then ran two super weak shots where the water was barely room temp even after adjusting the temp setting from the middle to the top setting. I looked up troubleshooting and nothing helped. In frustration I pushed the purge button which is front and center as I was pushing buttons to try to figure out why it wasn’t working. When I pushed the purge button it wouldn’t turn off. I even hard restarted it several times. I contacted kitchenaid customer support and they told me to do what I had already done. Also, did I mention It was also leaking!!!! After the first use, I didn’t try again until the morning and it had leaked. The water container was on correctly. Super disappointing. I was really excited for this. Oh well returned it and got a breville which worked perfect right out of the box. Take notes kitchenaid! ... show more

This is an expensive purchase for most of us, it’s a good machine for the most part. It’s very heavy. Fortunately it’s on wheels so you can tilt it slightly and roll it back and forth on the counter easily. It comes with 4 different size cups (maybe wrong terminology, the baskets) although I’m not sure yet why you differentiate between single and double walled baskets. The manual says it’s a matter of freshly ground versus pre ground but why does that matter? I don’t know. This machine does grind beans fresh so I’m not planning on ever buying pre ground. The holder for the grinding side is a little weird and I did knock it over the first few times trying to use it, making a mess. Now I’ve got it down though and I can def appreciate the flavor of freshly ground. Make sure you have the water filter installed correctly or it’ll make you go through the descaling cycle and that’s arduous. The controls are easy to use and easy to customize your drink. Temp control, shots, how fine the coffee is ground. The milk steamer is pretty loud but I think that’s normal, it’s just a loud process. This also dispenses hot water for americanos. My only real complaint is that the used espresso stays really wet so getting it into the compost bin is messy. Otherwise I love this machine and think it looks great on the counter. Oh the tamper is really nice too-heavy! I’m obviously not an expert but I’m learning and this machine is perfect for my skill level and beyond. ... show more
