The heat resistance is ok for moving a pot quick, pouring pasta into a colander, or taking something out of the oven quick, but not for very long, which is why they're 4-star to me. I do wish they could take the heat longer, but that doesn't seem to be the case with any potholders I've tried. They are the perfect size, though, for someone like me with small hands, so that makes them my fave so far. They look great with the new red theme in my kitchen, as well. ... show more

Before you stick your hand in a 400o oven, consider carefully what you do it with. I had a wonderful mitt, but it lasted maybe for as long as a stuffed toy. I held onto it (or it held onto me) because I dreaded the search for another companion through the shelves of one home store after another. And sorry, Mom, Dad, and the General Store, this is why we have Amazon. I liked the looks of these gloves, but could I trust them finger gripping things around that oven. That's why I tested this pair for several weeks before writing my review. So I'm happy to report-- I don't miss my old frayed mittens at all-- these are comfortable, safe, and nimble-- and look good, too. Don't underestimate their importance-- from gloves come hot dishes, hot dishes to a family dinner, and before you know, they are not only protecting your fingers, they are holding your family together. I started making sourdough and was using the square potholders. I was frequently getting burnt- almost dropped the lid once. I had seen these and thought they wouldn’t make much difference but was I wrong. I haven’t burnt my hands since. They cover my hands, easy to get off and on, protect well.
