Very sturdy bird feeder. Able to hold a number of birds simultaneously, and the top "brim" is wide enough to keep seeds pretty dry to prevent "caking up." Squirrels leave the feeder alone, and it has a large capacity, so I do not have to fill it every day. Very easy to fill and looking forward to using it for many years to come - even in the salt water environment!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: This feeder looked like it would work better than the one with perches, we have trouble with those. This feeder works great, much sturdier than the plastic Niger feeders, and the birds love it. And it has a little tray to catch what gets dropped.

I am giving this Finch feeder 4 stars because of the lack of tracking and very slow shipping. The feeder itself is well built and easy to put together. I love both the wide top, which helps keep the seeds dry and the wide base, which allows the birds to sit and eat the loose seed in the tray. The finches took to the feeder within 20 minutes, and I've had up to 6 hanging on the metal tubing to feed. I knew when I ordered the feeder that it was going to take a month to arrive but it was the only one with the wide bottom tray so I took a chance. What was frustrating was that even though it said tracking, it showed ordered but never shipped. Three days before I received it I finally got a notice that it was shipped. My order date was 5/3, ship date was 6/23, delivery date was 6/26. Not sure why it took over 7 weeks to ship?! If you aren't in a hurry, this is a great feeder. I like it so much I only took off 1 star for the excessive wait time for shipping.

This finch feeder is squirrel proof and the finches love it! Easy to clean and refill. Great value for your money! My previous one was plastic and the squirrels chewed through it. This one is quality metal, even the black mesh is metal.

The media could not be loaded. I got tired wasting seed from the socks that I hang. Though I love the amount of finches that can get onto a sock. I did find that this yellow feeder aside from the fact that it’s attractive, holds a lot of seed and has a ledge at the bottom to catch anything so it’s not wasted, and I am not going through seed as fast. Quite sturdy and easy to fill.

This is a very well made bird feeder. It is designed for Thistle seeds that are easily accessed through the openings in the mesh by Finches. These beautiful little birds can cling to the mesh while eating, or they can retrieve the seeds that drop through the mesh and into the bottom basin. The bottom basin has small drainage holes so that rain will pass through. The bronze finish on the top and bottom is a very attractive contrast to the black with mesh and the black Thistle seeds.
