The media could not be loaded. I got tired wasting seed from the socks that I hang. Though I love the amount of finches that can get onto a sock. I did find that this yellow feeder aside from the fact that it’s attractive, holds a lot of seed and has a ledge at the bottom to catch anything so it’s not wasted, and I am not going through seed as fast. Quite sturdy and easy to fill.

Very sturdy bird feeder. Able to hold a number of birds simultaneously, and the top "brim" is wide enough to keep seeds pretty dry to prevent "caking up." Squirrels leave the feeder alone, and it has a large capacity, so I do not have to fill it every day. Very easy to fill and looking forward to using it for many years to come - even in the salt water environment!

The media could not be loaded. I was amazed that within10 minutes of hanging this feeder up, filled with a combination of sunflower seed pieces and Niger Thistle, a pair of American Goldfinches appeared from out of nowhere and were happily eating there. I didn't even know they were in the area. The next day a second pair showed up, along with other types of finches throughout the day. It holds a lot of seed, is easy to fill and the overhang on the top functions well to keep off the rain, plus it has a nice sized tray to catch seed that falls. It is well worth the money. Yellow also attracts goldfinches apparently.

I had feeders out for 2 years and not a single golden finch, or any bird for that matter, visited my feeders. Then I decided to try this one. It looked like it would be easy to clean and the birds may prefer clinging to the mesh to eat. Price point was good as well. Presto! In one day, I was overwhelmed with golden finches. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I am only taking off one star because the hook on the top broke off (I was stupid and used it to turn the lid) and I had to glue it back on. Otherwise, I highly recommend this feeder. Purchased another one because the birds empty it in less than a week. Best feeder I’ve used in my 20 years of feeding golden finches.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: This feeder looked like it would work better than the one with perches, we have trouble with those. This feeder works great, much sturdier than the plastic Niger feeders, and the birds love it. And it has a little tray to catch what gets dropped.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wanted a brightly colored finch feeder for my backyard, and I certainly got it with this one. It holds the small seeds very well, and attracts finches everyday.

This is my 2nd feeder. Last week a cat ripped it out of where I had it hung. It was damaged beyond repair. It is very easy to put together. Easy to fill. It is very pretty. This is so much better than a sock feeder. A sock feeder tends to fly around. This feeder has a good weight to it so it stays put. Nyjer seed is so small it tends to fall out but, the bottom tray catches a lot of it. Less seeds are wasted compared to a sock feeder. Spend the extra money and get this feeder.
