For use with charcoal mound or firewood: Step 1: Place 2-3 starters evenly throughout mounded charcoal or into the inner ring of firewood logs. These wood fire starters are a nifty eco-friendly way to light charcoal briquets without resorting to liquid flammables or electric starters. They light easily with one match and burn hot and cleanly on the grate of my Weber kettle using a Kingsford vertical starter unit with holes on the bottom and a heat-insulated handle using convection from the heat of the starter to be drawn up through the charcoal towards the open top. In my experience I can ignite around sixty pieces of charcoal with a single wood starter. One bag of starters seems to last forever. These work pretty good to light a fire in a fire pit. They don't stay lit too long. They are supposed to help you get the initial fire started. But you can throw a few in to keep it going. I will buy more for next summer.
