  • Like sleeping on clouds
Color: Red-deluxe Plus
I enjoy camping, but I also really like to be comfortable. I normally bring a cot with me but they're quite large and take a bit of effort to put together. In the interest in downsizing the items I bring with me (including our tent), I decided to try out a sleep pad instead. I wish I could just sleep on the ground, but I'm just too used to nice soft mattresses. I love how nice and thick this sleeping pad is. Anything too thin and I may as well be sleeping right on the ground. But this mattress gets nice and thick. Now, it does take some work to get it up to the almost 4" of thickness shown. On it's own it inflates up to about 3", so if you want it thicker, you'll need to blow into one of the valves to give it the rest of the space. Honestly though, I've found that it's self inflated thickness is the perfect squishyness for me. I'm a large woman, at 210 most portable mattresses don't allow me to sleep on my side comfortably since my hips go right to the bottom. Not so with this mattress. I can sleep on my side and there's still plenty of cushion! It's also just wide enough for me to lay on my back. So if you are larger than me, I'd recommend checking out their WIDE mattress instead. At 5'3, this mat is long enough that I can lay fully extended, arms too, and be comfortable. I love how fast this mattress inflated. The moment you twist open the valves, you can hear the air rush in. It's pretty satisfying. It only took a few minutes to get up to 3" the first time it inflated. Packing up the pad was also pretty easy, though it can be a slight struggle, since it really wants to be inflated. Just be patient and roll slowly, using good downward force. I also had to put all my weight on it a few times just to expel the air. But when all was said and done, it took me only about 2 or 3 minutes to pack it up. It easily fits into the included travel bag. About the only downside I can think of is the material. While it's fantastic at being water repellent, it's not great for keeping your sleeping bag secured onto the pad. I have a sleeping bag made from a parachute style material, and I was sliding all over the place. I'm heavily contemplating just grabbing some shelf liner (that sort of sticky pad stuff) and tossing a couple strips on there to keep me in place. Less toss-y turn-y sleepers might not have any trouble though. Overall, this is a fantastic edition to anyone's camping gear. I'm not sure I'd want to lug this around as a backpacker but for car camping, it's a must! I received this item at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. I only review items I would have purchased anyway, and am under NO obligation to provide high star reviews to any one. ... show more

  • Helps!!!!
Color: Lightgrey
Although certainly not 3 inches thick, I give this product 5 stars without hesitation. My hubby and I are in our 50s, with some back issues and sleeping on the ground simply is just too painful for us. We took this mat to Sherman Pass last weekend, added a couple of sleeping bags for extra padding - and voila. We were comfy. Not like our bed at home, but comfy. Not easy to roll up, but we just folded it and put it back in the truck. It was certainly large enough for the two of us. My husband is not easy to impress, but this did the trick. Note - we CAMP. Not in camp grounds, or trailers, but in a tent up in the mountains. Being off the cold ground also helped. VERY HAPPY WITH OUR PURCHASE! ... show more

  • Awesome mattress (if it didn't have multiple seam leaks!)
Color: Red-deluxe Plus
So I purchased KingCamp Deluxe for my van as I had 2 1/2 inch high-density foam that wasn't working for me. I'm a side sleeper and my hips would bottom out. So after setting this up and letting it self-inflate on my futon bed frame and trying it out, it was just about perfect for me. (I'm 6 foot tall and about 190 pounds.) After using it for 3 days I got a little confused because when I first lay down it felt great but by morning it seemed a little flat. Then the next evening it seemed perfect again. Fast forward a few weeks and I had injured my back again so I put the mattress on my living room floor (carpeted) to watch TV while I lay down all day to rest my back. So by noon the mattress was pretty flat cause my hips were hurting. So I open the valves and it starts reinflating, then by sleeptime I would have to open the valves again to let it fill back up, and then blow some more air into it so by morning it wouldn't be too flat! This is unacceptable! And I really wanted to like this pad and did not realize it had a slow leak until after sleeping on it constantly. I still haven't found the leak yet. I'll probably have to take it to the pond nearby so I can submerge it to find bubbles. This turned out to be a real bummer for $75, and I was going to buy their cot also to go with it but now I'll be looking at other brands I think. Update 4/15/19. So I finally took it to the pond, filled it up with air and submerged it. After finding 4 separate seam leaks on one side I gave up! Totally disgusted. I guess if you want to take a chance buy this brand. ... show more

  • Really comfy upgrade to our tent camping setup!
Color: Blue-deluxe Double
Really satisfied with this camping pad. We got the deluxe double. Huge upgrade from the inflatable air mattress that we've been using that looses air and turns into a deflated mess. It's a lot more padded and comfy than I expected and you can adjust the softness level by opening the two screw valves and letting air in or out to your liking. It takes some time to self inflate to it's fullest level (10-15 min). My boyfriend is 6'2" and we both fit on it just fine. We have a small REI T2+ tent that this fits in perfectly. It's a bit bulky and heavy when packed up so definitely more appropriate for car camping and would not suggest backpacking with this. It takes some wrestling to pack it back up, but comes in a nice carry bag with elastic bands to hold it together. ... show more

  • Deeply impressed
Color: Lightgrey
I have some major back/nerve damage issues (disabled veteran), but I want to be able to take my kid's camping without crippling myself. I took a chance on this sleeping pad, and I'm so glad I did. It's easy to use, easy to fold back up, and completely relieved the usual pressure point problems with sleeping on the ground. It also eliminated any awareness of the gravel that was under our tent (state park set-up at the sites). I woke up feeling great both mornings on our recent trip. I'll never camp without one of these again. ... show more
