I’m a solid Gen Xer—grew up on Atari, Nintendo, and those brick-sized Game Boys that ate AA batteries like candy. So when this little handheld showed up pre-loaded with 400 classic games, I figured it’d be a quick nostalgia hit before the kids claimed it. Turns out, it’s been my guilty pleasure during downtime: waiting for the cows to finish eating, sitting on the porch after chores, or hiding in the barn pretending I’m “checking the feed inventory” while blasting through Contra or Super Mario Bros. The 2.8" color screen is surprisingly crisp for something this tiny—no pixel soup like some cheap knockoffs—and the rechargeable battery lasts way longer than the old handhelds ever did (I can get through a whole afternoon of Tetris marathons without recharging). Controls feel decent for retro games—d-pad responsive enough for platformers, buttons clicky without being mushy. It’s got that perfect pocket size: slips into my barn jacket without bulging like I’m smuggling a brick, and the built-in speaker is loud enough to hear the chiptunes over distant mooing (though I usually keep it quiet so the guardian dogs don’t think it’s a new predator alarm). A few of the 400 games are absolute stinkers (who actually wants to play six different bootleg versions of Pong?), and the menu navigation is a bit clunky—like they crammed every ROM they could find without much organization. But for pure retro fun? It’s scratching that 80s/90s itch better than anything I’ve tried lately. The kids think it’s cool too, but let’s be real—this thing’s mostly for Dad’s “me time” while the farm keeps spinning. Solid little time machine.

The media could not be loaded. This handheld game console is a game emulator with a fixed number of games and bare bones operating system. The case I ordered is the transparent gray one, and I think it looks fantastic. My only dislike is that the edge of the screen is lifting off on one side and there is a 3mm smudge under the screen. Neither issue affects the visibility of the screen, but are annoying quality control issues. The buttons feel solid and I was able to play a few games that require some very fast button presses and I never felt like the buttons got mushy or lost communication. The unit does not have any save ability, so it won’t save your high score or remember what games you recently played. The 400 games are kind of in a random order, but I was able to find a few I recognize like Elevator Action and 1942. The volume knob works sufficiently but can be a bit hard to fine tune in the lower volumes. It can get quite loud, but the quality of the speaker and source content isn’t that great to begin with. It comes with a removable, rechargeable lithium battery which is likely easy to replace if you ever need to. I appreciate that you can charge it via USB-C, reducing the need for yet another cable in the house. The quality of the color screen is good for a device at this price range, but if you can connect it to a CRT monitor the experience may be more enjoyable due to the larger screen format. I’ve never had a handheld emulator so I’m pretty happy to have so many games from my youth in the palm of my hand. But I could see how younger players may find the games to be on the basic side.

There are a few famous arcade games here but none of the classics you might expect for having such a high number of games. I went through the list first thing and found at some point it just started repeating the beginning of the list so the number is way off. The games themselves seem to play through fine. I've only played a couple since my kids took off with it immediately. They played it that first day and haven't picked it up again though. It's probably more for nostalgic parents than a cool thing for kiddos. I like the color and retro see through design. The buttons have a good click to them. The volume is good. The battery lasts well. The size fits well into a purse of backpack. It's only a little bigger than my hand. My 5yo couldn't understand how to use it so I'd say maybe for slightly older kids. It's easy to throw in the car for car rides when their tablets die or get left behind. It feels very fragile to me. I'd be worried if the kids drop it for sure. I think if I were going to get another one I would try a different one but it was a fun time killer for a few days.

Ok, y'all. As a mom of two young boys, having some form of entertainment (especially while one has baseball practice and one does not) is absolutely essential. This is the perfect game to toss in your purse or sports-mom tote and have available when the kiddo without the practice at the time is needing something to stay entertained. This comes loaded with SO MANY games, and scrolling through the options you'll see that there's no way to run out of options to play. It's easily recharged with a USB-C cord, so I always keep an extra battery pack with me juuuuuuust in case we go through the battery. So far, that hasn't been needed as this thing holds a fantastic charge! The volume control is a small wheel dial on the side of the device, so you're able to keep it from distracting others around when it's in use. The layout of the buttons reminds me very much of the old Gameboy handheld from my childhood, so even this 40 year old mom could figure it out. The weight of it is pretty light, so we'll see about the durability over extended periods of usage, but the lighter weight makes it great when toting around in a bag. Overall, great for our kiddos and has a fantastic list of game options... just don't be on the lookout for the Mario Brothers games.
