I had some anxiety about putting this together but once I got started I actually had fun. The instructions was the best I've ever used and I've assembled a lot of things. With these instructions they made assembly so easy and to me it was fun. It took me several hours to assemble it because I didn't have my husband who usually hekp and I had only a hand screw driver ( battery powered drill will be much faster). My confidence was busted once I had finished assembling it and everything worked as it should. Tbe only complaint is that the screw to open the battery case is small. I had to go to Walmart to get a eye glass repair kit to get a screwdriver that small. That's my only complaint. I hope the Melissa and Doug kitchen set I got has instructions just like this has. My husband and I only have one grandchild we are 53 and 56 so she have us all to herself and wa to for nothing. This Christmas I'm redoing her room for her Christmas gift. It will be the Melissa and Doug Kitchen and grocery store all the Melissa and Doug food for the kitchen and store, money for the cash register, purse set, twin baby dolls, high chair, play pin and food for the babies and life size Ellsa and friend wall stickers and 2 Olaf life size stickers. I cannot say enough good things about this Grocery Store! My three year old absolutely loves his grocery store, and it has quickly become his favorite playtime activity. The quality is great it's incredibly sturdy and well made. Assembly was surprisingly easy. I was able to put it together in about an hour, and the instructions were simple to follow. Once set up, it looked just like a real mini grocery store, complete with a checkout counter, scanner, and shelves. What really makes this special is how it encourages creativity and role-playing. My little one loves grabbing his grocery cart, filling it up with all his play food, scanning items at the checkout, and then heading to the kitchen to cook his purchases. Lots of value, sturdy impressive build, and tons of fun. My child been playing with it nonstop. We stocked it with lemons, limes, mandarins, bananas, small cereal boxes, various tiny snacks, and real money. Its so fun holy cow. I love it and at this price point it cannot be beat. Well worth the price (it was on sale for $100) Keeps the kids super busy, age range from 11 month to 7 years old and each kid loves it. A quick update. The refrigerator door cracked off, my kids are not rough or anything they just pushed it backwards a bit too much. I immediately reached out to Melissa and Doug through their website, it was a pretty simple process and before I knew it the refrigerator door replacement showed up at my house. Their customer service is beyond amazing, I hadn't even known they shipped it because I missed their reply email. I'm very happy with this purchase. I bought this for my son’s birthday when he turned 5 because he loves playing with pretend food and was asking for a cash register to pretend to sell the food as well and thought this was perfect! He was so excited on his birthday to get this and play with his other two brothers! It has gotten allot of play over the past month and has handled it very well! The only downside was it didn’t come with a battery cover, I rechecked all the trash and boxes several times over looking for one but couldn’t find one. Still works just fine though. The scanner makes a beep when anything is passed over it and the conveyor belt moves with a hand crank the kids love it. Plenty of storage for a bunch of different food options! We even bought the extra bundle of food, apron, money and what not that was offered but we didn’t appreciate the quality of that part of it at all. Putting this together Christmas Eve only to find a damaged piece that impacts the refrigerator/freezer door opening. It was our 3 year old daughters gift from Santa, so it’s not like we could stop putting it together and pack it back up for a return as she would have been left with no Santa gift. Aside from the damaged piece, everything else is great and our daughter loves it. It comes with a good amount of grocery items, and double sided labels so we can stock the shelves with other kitchen items she already has. The colors are great, it’s definitely heavy duty, weighs pretty heavy both unassembled and assembled. The kitchen seems very durable (aside from the broken piece). After the initial Christmas morning surprise, we’ve chosen to leave the door off of the refrigerator going forward, due to the damaged piece, but other than that I feel the item as a whole is very safe. Edit- minor issue with the “credit card” machine. Customer service was OUTSTANDING! I had a replacement just a couple days later. Very easy to put together. Directions were very clear and everything well labeled. Very sturdy. I only wish they had more grocery items to go with it
