Overall: great guitar, wouldn’t hesitate to buy another I bought this as a ‘travel’ guitar that I could leave at my parents’ house in order to have something to play when I visit without having to check my nice telecaster on flights. The low price of this guitar makes that actually work. That said, it’s a good guitar even ignoring the cost. I think $50 in pickups and $3 in bridge height screws would make this a near perfect inexpensive guitar. Pros: Roasted maple neck, actual rosewood fingerboard Truss rod adjustment wheel at the bottom of the neck is a feature usually found on fancier guitars and this one works well Intonation was nearly spot on from the factory Frets feel very smooth Bridge has brass saddles Tuners feel nice The belly carve and forearm carve are nice Cons: Pickups are weak. It’s serviceable for a beginner guitarist or a travel guitar. They do the tele thing, but put a set of Tonerider Tele pickups in it and it’ll be great. The finish is not very nice. I don’t mind relic’d guitars but the actual paint itself looks and feels bad and the “worn” edges of the paint feel rough against my arm when I play. The bridge height adjustment screws are a bit too long and dig into my hand when I play. This is true of almost all Teles though. Easily corrected with some shorter screws. The “high fret access carve” on the back of the body is useless. The carve should be on the front of the body if you actually want to play high up the neck. The logo “KGD electric guitar” is dumb. The strings do turn your fingers black the first few times you play it.

I am very impressed with the quality of this guitar, It came playable out of the box,after a string stretching the tuners are holding just fine , I adjusted the truss rod for less relief and that was all it needed.! Pickups are okay but,I will replace them at some point? I would definitely recommend this guitar,it resonates really well.also ,neck is beautiful and comfy,not to thin or too fat just right !

This is a great instrument, The neck was perfectly straight, the action was a little high, but easy to fix, the frets were perfect, didn’t even need to polish them. Just buy a good pair of strings and you will be all set. I loved the relic look of this one. Can’t beat it for the price. I will be buying the black version next.

Out of the box it’s absolutely playable and looks pretty cool. Frets were level enough to set a fairly low action. Front pickup isn’t horrible, but the bridge pickup is horrible. Now for the less than good news. The bridge is set out of line with the neck by several millimeters. This makes the string space to the edge of the fret board inconsistent. The spacing is correct at the nut, but as you move closer to the bridge the strings drift towards the high E string. I took a photo to show with green tape. I noticed it as I was installing compensated saddles. I’ll have to reset the bridge which isn’t a giant job if you know how to do it yourself. Sending this guitar to a luthier would cost more than it’s worth. I like the project personally and it will be a great guitar when I’m done. If your buying this to learn how to setup guitars, this is a decent project with a solid body and fairly serviceable maple neck.

Guitar is okay, looks real nice but to be honest its not a lot different than the Fojill guitar that I purchased the same day here for 98.00. Both arrived in good shape from shipping. Tuners on this maybe a little better and seem to hold considering its new, but same neck thickness. Frets a little more polished on edges. Neither is bad though. Both arrived with low setups but Im sure could use a little tweaking. Pickups seem about the same which means neither have that real warm tone. Strings on both will be getting replaced. Slight difference in weight. So I'll give it that the hardware on this guitar is a little bit different than the Fojill but not sure its enough to justify 80.00 or more difference in price. Color scheme of guitars and distress looks almost identical and attractive. I will be upgrading pickups on both. I'm somewhere between 3 and 4 stars on this because of the fairly large price difference compared to the upgrade over the other being small.

I only found one youtube on the KGD telecaster. I hope my review will help a potential buyer. The relic work on the guitar is nice, and the weight was nice and light 7 lbs. Nice rosewood fretboard and satin feel to the back of the neck. But that is where "nice" ends. I found a number of problems that made it unplayable out of the box. The problems are: 1. Very bad fret buzz buzzing on all strings when playing. This was because the frets were not level. I identified 10 frets up and down the neck that were too high. Also the high E string would sometimes get caught under the 1st fret. Overall the frets (not stainless steel) were not smooth but very rough. Serious fret leveling has to be performed to make it a playable. 2. Guitar would not stay in tune. I attributed this to low quality tuners. I took the tuners off the headstock and found that the peg holes are much bigger that the tuners themselves resulting in unstable tuners when tightened. 3. Poor sounding neck and middle settings with the tone. The bridge pick up was acceptable , but the neck pickup is low output and sounds muddy. I took the bridge off and found that one of the holes in the body for one of the four bridge screws was too big so only three screws were effectively holding the bridge down. 4. Poor intonation. I tried for two hours to adjust the saddles for proper intonation. Could not get Low E and A string right. You would have to replace brass saddles with compensated ones. Or the bridge altogether with six saddle bridge. If you purchase this guitar be ready to do some major set up work. And if you can't do the setup yourself be ready to spend $$ for a luthier. Then once its playable you still have to deal with the weak performing tone. A fair price for this guitar considering all the issues would be $125.00 or less. BTW the neck radius is 12 inches and the nut is 42mm.

This thing is actually pretty awesome! I changed strings, set it up, and I am off and running. May someday change the pick ups, but for what I do, it sounds just fine If you are looking for something to play in the basement or bang around on I recommend this thing for sure. I think this is also a decent guitar for an advanced player besides.

These types of guitars are why the likes of Fender are suing the little guys. This guitar plays criminally good for the price . Neck is a slightly beefier C profile and feels nice in the hand. Good quick action and only needed one quarter turn of the neck to be set nicely. Electronics are cheap, but they sound passable out of the box.
