This would be a five star review but there is one small thing I wish was different. First the things I love. - It is gorgeous. It makes me happy to look at it. (I know it sounds crazy but some days I spend over 12 hours working on it. A little whimsy goes a long way.) - I love the mechanical feel of the keys and the satisfying clacking of the keys. I chose the loud key version on purpose because I like to hear myself type. -It has a full number pad and dedicated insert and delete keys. (I am an accountant these things are important when you type numbers all day.) -No batteries! It is rechargeable via USB-C and still works when charging. -You can use it with a Mac or PC and toggle between them. The one thing I was disappointed with was that I was specifically looking for a keyboard that I could easily switch between my work and personal laptops. The description didn’t make it clear that the toggle between devices was only between the Mac and PC not like devices. One last note, this beauty is made of metal and weighs a lot. Caught me by surprise.

I'm gonna come at this from the perspective of someone who typically scoffs at the idea of any keyboard costing more than $50, no matter the use case. Also, I'm gonna focus on a direct comparison to what you typically get at that $50 price range, focusing less on advanced features, rather how the Q6 Pro just does practicality better. That said, I ordered this knowing in the past 4 years, I've had about 3-4 "budget" keyboards fail me in multiple ways, with issues like malfunctioning integrated or non-detachable cables and even PCB failure. Somehow worse than that, I've had numerous typing errors from unresponsive keys and repeating keystrokes. I've had to hard press otherwise clean and dust-free keys just to get them to register. Many switches were replaced and still, these issues would persist on these budget boards. There was plenty of frustration to go around. So basically, I knew it was time to move up the latter. The quality from the Q6 Pro shows up immediately during unboxing. This thing feels like a tank and weighs about as much as one, too. It's thick and sits high at the back and the first thing I noticed over my other keyboards were the lack of flimsy little fold down feet. The Q6 stays put. I hadn't realized it until I started using this keyboard, but my old boards would move a fair bit during longer gaming sessions, at times sliding my mat with it. Not anymore. I also like how something so durable and solid as the Q6 Pro can feel so soft and subtle at the same time. For instance, the KSA Double-Shot PBT keycaps feel wonderful for my gaming needs. They feel good for typing as well, but the most impressive thing I notice in day to day use is how quiet this keyboard is. I'm not a keyboard professional, and I have limited experience with different types of switches, I don't mod, swap, etc., but these Banana Tactile switches are certainly the best I've used. My use has so far been the same as before, except now I benefit from Keychron's quality of life improvements such as a detachable and optional power cable, multiple connection options across multiple platforms(I actually do unplug and swap this keyboard back and forth regularly now), durability, stability, etc. These are little subtleties I otherwise didn't know existed and should have made life at my desk a lot smoother sooner. I've only just begun to dissect this keyboard for it's numerous capabilities, and I think anyone still in the same boat I was in, needs to jump on this board under when $200, should it be on sale(which it currently is). Did I mention this thing looks as good as it feels?

I have a LOT of keyboards. Not something to brag about, since if you have one good one, it'll last a lifetime. I still have a Filco Majestouch 2 I got 20 years ago that still works great. I just like a good keyboard. So when I say this isn't a keyboard you could have gotten a decade ago for less than $500, I'm serious. It has every feature outside of 10+ layers. Which, if you have a full sized keyboard, you don't need more than 4... ever. Solid aluminum frame? Check. Foam dampeners? Check. RGM front facing PCB lighting? check. Hotswap 3 or 5 pin switches? check. SA (if you like them) profule PBT double-caps? Check. VIA compatible flashing that also has it's own software if you want? Perfect. I guess maybe shine-through, but if you are this serious into keyboards, you are a touch-typist. No need to burn money on something like this, yet. I know how to write QMK firmware and I'm so happy when I don't have to. Using VIA or Keychron's own online software is a breeze. You can rewrite every single key, and the knob can be layer-specific. In a few minutes, I made the knob volume/media controls on one layer, lighting options on another and browser zoom controls on a third (didn't even need the fourth). That would take me a few minutes vs a few seconds, writing the specific code. And you can download the JSON and load it at will for different profiles if you really want to. Now to go into the other aspects. The battery life is insane. Without the lighting, it lasts seemingly forever. One charge lasted weeks. I switched over to RGB full-brightness for the last couple days after deactivating the sleep mode to see what would happen. Still going. It is silly. Even the cable is pretty well made. Overall impressions in a nutshell. I like to finish with pros to get the cons out of the way. Cons: -Doesn't come with shine through keycaps, for those who like it. -If you don't like purple coloring (I do), probably not for you, but the Q06 comes in a few colors. -Traditional MX switches vs HE, though I like the MX switches just fine. -Heavy frame that has no adjustments. -No 2.4 connection (for gamers, this can be an issue, but the USB answers this) Pros: -A lot of options for colors and switches. -Excellent stability. -Fantastic battery life. -Hot-swappable switches that are pre-lubed. -Solid pre-greased stabalizers. -SA profiles for that old-feel that is just so durable. -PBT double keycaps that won't fade and don't hold finger oils. -Excellent south-facing RGB lighting. -Very easy to mod and build on. Only a few screws if you want to dissemble and change out the foam. -VIA and QMK support, along with Keychron's own software for rewriting firmware. -Excellent BT connectivity across three devices. -Windows, Linux, MacOS and Android support. -Fit and finish is very well done. No creaking, no issues. It really is a great keyboard. And though it isn't cheap, the quality seems extremely high vs the sort of keyboards that had a fraction of the features a couple generations ago. Simply put, Keychron is knocking it out of the park and I'm here for it!

This is a really hefty keyboard, weighs a lot so it's definitely not made to be portable but it IS durable. The keyboard itself feels well made due to the aluminum case and weight. It feels ergonomic due to the shape of the keycaps, it almost hugs your finger just a bit. It is a taller profile than cherry so it takes some getting used to. The overall stock sound of the keyboard is nice and poppy. I don't hear any scratchiness from the switches, they feel smooth and pleasant to type on. It is good value for money since it is a full sized keyboard so you don't need a separate numpad or any other accessories for typing. The keyboard height is not adjustable as is the case with almost all aluminum keyboards so that is to be expected. It is easy to mod since the keyboard has screws on the back and you don't have to spend time prying open the case and potentially breaking it. Great keyboard overall!
