I owned the K6 model for about a year before switching jobs and changing from traveling to a stationary desk, needing a 10 Key. This one fit exactly what I wanted. Wireless, Designed for Mac, with a rechargeable battery that doesn't need plugged in more than once or twice a week. The hotswappable switches and RGB profiles are great, but I really just wanted a wireless keyboard with the mac layout by default. Built quality is improved in Version 2, and it doesn't leave much to be desired. Compared to the magic keyboard, the magic keyboard is slightly easier to connect and as a result connectivity issues are rarer, but Mac OS bluetooth keyboard support has gotten much better in the last couple of updates. Magic keyboard does have better battery life, but I would imagine with the backlight turned off and sleep mode enable you can get comparable performance. Ultimately though, the magic keyboard just can't match the feel of a mechanical keyboard, and the height/angle of this board is great. I don't know if I would change out the switches in the future, but I can see myself adding some fun keycaps in the future. The K4 on it's own, with the bluetooth/usb option, mac/windows toggle, great battery life, and generally high build quality make this a great choice for any user looking to get a mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank.

When I say value, I mean the price-to-performance ratio. This thing is unbeatable in that regard. The Pros: - You get an aluminum frame in a price point where many others are all plastic. - Foam in packaging can be added to inside base for sound dampening. - Terrific customer service - Great quality for the price - Unbeatable sound profile after foam mod The Cons: - No USB pass through - No software RGB control The Summary: After buying this, I’ve also tried the RK100, the YMDK 100, the Iqunix F97, and the Drop Shift. With what you get for the price of the Keychron, going with any of the others was not justifiable. The RK100 had terrible clack and hollow sound, even after foam mod. The YMDK had no rgb. The Iqunix was phenomenal but way too costly for not enough improvement over the Keychron. The Drop Shift was the same, costly with minimal advantage over the Keychron. The Mods: I added foam from the packaging to the inside base and swapped the Gateron Browns for ROZELLA Holy Pandas from Amazon which I lubed before installing. I love this keyboard and the sound from it after these minimal mods. It’s the best one for a midrange and the top tier keyboards aren’t enough of an improvement to justify twice the price.

Pros: This keyboard is great for those who have a small desk and need to make space for other periopherals like the mouse. It also has the numberpad and delete key. Its great for customizations if you get the hotswappable version. You can put in your own switches of preference and of course you can change your keycaps as well. Has pretty good RGB lighting and is fairly bright. Comes with a braided usb-c cable, switch puller, and key cap remover. The bluetooth feature is a nice. It has a decent distance of reception from one opposite side of a room to the PC I own. (This is in a 14'x10' size room.) I recommend getting the version with the aluminum frame as it does seem to do a good job at keeping the board sturdy and adds an element of durableness. Cons: The cable is a bit short. I could barely reach my PC. This partly due to the size but also because the plug is on the left side of the board and my PC is on the right side of my desk. Note: This seems to be a shorter cable than some other brands that provide you the same cable but at a longer length. Some of the switches I pulled out were very difficult. The reason was that they were made by the manufacturer with some of the metal pins installed at an angle. This made me wonder how they even installed them this way. But yeah, these one were very difficult to pull out. The RGB can only be controlled by the keyboard and has no software. You also cannot assign individuals keys to have a certain color of light while another has a different one. In case you are wondering about the blue gateron switches, I personally do not like them. They seem to have a significant wobble when the key is pressed down. Notes: This is a review of the gateron blue switch hot swappable alluminum frame Keychron K4 mechanical keyboard that has been customized with Fogruaden Blue Samurai CSA profile PBT Keycaps shown in the pictures. (They are not included with this keyboard.)
