  • Wasn’t sure what to expect, but very happy with what I got!
Color: Black-Backlit
Okay, so I’m gonna start by pointing out what it was that I was looking for when I began to seek out a case/keyboard for my iPad. I have an iPad Pro, 12.9” 2020 generation. I got it to use for work, writing, and photo editing. I wasn’t looking for a trackpad, as I am quite comfortable using the touch screen. I needed something that would protect my device well, be simple to use, was decently priced, and would do what it is supposed to do well (in this case, act as a decent keyboard). After some time, I can say that I am very happy with this purchase. This is why... Connection: This was one of my concerns when I was seeking out a wireless keyboard. I’m a decently quick typist. If I am going strong, I can type around 70-71 words per minute. The average is around 40-42, so it’s safe to say I’m somewhat quicker than would be considered “normal.” One of my biggest pet peeves with keyboards and computers is key input lag. When I am in my groove, I can sometimes identify and begin to back up to correct a mistake before the computer recognizes and points it out. So it bugs me to no end when I am typing and the computer, or poor keyboard connection, is several words behind where I am. With this keyboard, I can say that keyboard lag has not reared it’s annoying head. This makes me a happy typist. In addition, the keyboard was very easy to pair. After pairing, all you need to do is turn the keyboard on and it will automatically connect (as long as your Bluetooth is activated on your iPad). Fit and protection: As I mentioned previously, I have an iPad Pro, 12.9” 2020 generation. This case/keyboard fit my iPad perfectly and I have had no issues at all. I don’t know exactly what the material is, but the piece that covers the iPad itself is a smooth, hard material. The “wrapping” is sturdy, but flexible in the right areas to allow for a comfortable fit around the iPad. This “wrapping” also has a little extra that will wrap around to magnetically seal the case. The extra bit also covers the camera, adding a nice little bit of protection that other cases don’t seem to offer (from what I have seen in my searching). The Apple Pencil fits perfectly, and now I don’t have to worry about looking for it in my bag when I need it! Regarding the Apple Pencil, I noticed that some people have been complaining that it is difficult to remove the pencil from its resting place. One thing I noticed was that there is a convenient hole placed behind the pencil in the hard casing that I mentioned previously. If you press your finger through this hole, the pencil will pop right out. Finally, I was also concerned about potential screen scratching or damage to the keyboard due to the keyboard sharing the case with my iPad. However, this was thought through in the design. The keys are sunk in to the keyboard, allowing protection for the various keys. There are also four rubber nubs, for lack of a better term, that keep your iPad comfortably rested without making too much contact with the keyboard. This was nice in my opinion, as I was not wanting to change my screen protector every several months because of scratching. Versatility: Something important that I needed for my iPad was the ability to move my keyboard. I often use my iPad as my kindle or notebook (utilizing my Apple Pencil). As such, it was important for me to be able to move the keyboard away when necessary. This case allows for that and I can easily fold the excess flexible bits behind, allowing for use of my iPad in a vertical or horizontal position. Price: When seeking out a case, I was not wanting to breach three digits. I figured, if I can’t find something below three digits, I might as well go all in and get a Magic Keyboard or Apple Folio Keyboard. This keyboard was well priced and I feel that I got plenty for my money, from design to safety to functionality. I’d never heard of the brand before, but after this purchase, I would at least consider their other products in the future. I’ll keep my eye out. Design: Finally, design. I love the way the case looks. The backlights are wonderful; pleasing to the eye and very useful in the dark. I am currently writing this review in a very dark room and the backlights do the job wonderfully. The keys don’t feel so small that it makes typing difficult. There are additional shortcut buttons as well, yet the keyboard doesn’t really feel cramped at all. My hands rest comfortably on the home row and I am extending my fingers to each key about as much as I would for a laptop or desktop keyboard. The weight of my iPad in the case with the keyboard is at least doubled. I haven’t weighed it or anything, but the increase in weight is noticeable. That being said, the weight increase isn’t overwhelming. It is also kind of expected considering the quality of the protective casing and the addition of the keyboard. If I were really picky, I could list this as a “con,” but I don’t really mind at all. Battery: I’m not gonna comment on this as I haven’t had the keyboard long enough to need to recharge. That being said, after looking though reviews, it seems to be the consensus that the battery life is somewhere around 80+ hours. So there’s that. ... show more

  • Wireless Keyboard JP327B/JP400BK
Color: Black-Backlit
** Would rate it 1 AND 5 ** if I could, so avg. is 3 stars iPad Pro 12.9” case - does the good outweigh the bad?? Design: case 2, keyboard 9 Usability: 8 Protection: 7 Durabilty: unknown I purchased this case with magnetic backlit keyboard from Chesona, but I’ve titled my review generically because curiously the case and keyboard have no product identifiers on them whatsoever. Totally generic. No logos, no numbers, nothing. My only conclusion is that the Chinese factory producing them sells them to or sells them under a multitude of different distributors - and therefore this review may wind up helping people purchasing the exact same keyboard from a site other than Chesona. And now my review, which I will update as I gain more experience with it. This is only my third day using it, so obviously I cannot address things such as durability, yet. I chose this case over a couple of others specifically because of its tent-like structure when open. I needed a case to use in my lap, and I did not think the “picture frame” type stands on the back of some cases would prop up the screen easily on my knees. So far this case has worked perfectly in that regard, even though I am slightly disappointed with the exterior surface of the case. It is somewhat slicker than I would have anticipated. In fact, the inside surface is just a little bit “grippier” and would be perfect for the outside. But in fairness, this case hasn’t slid off of my lap, and other people may be looking for a surface that is extra good at repelling dirt and grime. I did read some reviews that stated the case was a little “sloppy” when closed, and I wish they had gone into more detail. One of the features of this case is the magnetic keyboard, which in theory, allows you to remove it and simply use the case as a cover. However, without the keyboard the case does not fit tight against the screen and it does indeed have a sloppy feel and a visible gap between the cover and the iPad. This alone wouldn’t be a decision changer for me since I probably would always want to take the keyboard with me - that is the reason for choosing a case like this over a high quality case like ZUGU without a keyboard. Unfortunately, since the keyboard is only half as wide as the case itself, even with it in, there is still excess space no matter where you position the keyboard. If you place it at the bottom closest to the fold, the case feels most secure in your hand while carrying it, but the flap at the top is floppy. If you place the keyboard up close to the top so that the flap fits tightly over the case when closed (so it doesn’t flop), then the extra space at the bottom edge where you carry it has that annoying sloppy feel. This single issue is making me reconsider my purchase. My wife is reading the return policy while I type to see how long/if I can continue to evaluate this case, which is what I would like to do because there are several things that I like a lot about this case. First of all, let me say, the keyboard is well thought out. I cannot vouch for its quality and durability, but being a mac user, I like the mac layout. It is actually an improved mac layout in that it has several features that make it better than my macbook pro. The laptop keyboards only have the backspace/delete key, so in the past I often found myself getting up and going into my study so I could use my expanded keyboard. This little beauty has both. And it has a few handy shortcuts built in to the apple function keys across the top like cut, copy and paste. You can also navigate with up/down and page up/page down arrows! And even thought the user guide doesn’t tell you this, there is a specific key to turn the backlighting on/off. And speaking of power, there is something else the webpage descriptions do not tell you - there is a difference between the battery in the backlit versus the non-backlit keyboards. 650 mAh versus 280 mAh I’m so glad I opted for the backlit even though I felt like I probably wouldn’t use it most of the time in order to save power. The user guide states 200 hrs. use without backlight versus 80 hrs. for the non-backlit version. Get the backlit!!!!!! I will also say that the keyboard has a pretty good feel to it. I can type very comfortably and smoothly. I have stout muscular hands and this keyboard does not feel cramped. While the keyboard itself can be flexed a little when you push on it (that isn’t necessarily bad - it might be quite durable), the keys do have the quality key movement you would expect from an expensive keyboard when you type that you can almost hear but really just feel. And it even has the little orientation nubs on the “f” and “j” keys. And one final thing for this initial review. Although I have not had to interface with Chesona (yet), I would like to point out they included a nice little note in with the case asking you to give them a chance to address any concerns or questions you might have. I was genuinely struck by their straightforward approach to saying “we care.” Whether or not it is sincere, I do not know, but it certainly came across to me that way. OK. Four days now, and I think I am leaning more and more toward returning this floppy case. It is also awkward when you try to just fold it back and use the iPad like a pad to draw or play games. BUT... I’m still going to test it out a little more because I think the floppiness may be making biased toward thinking it is cheaply made when it isn’t. Stay tuned.... ... show more

  • Does what I need but not great — 3 1/2 stars
If i could give his 3 1/2 stars, I would. It’s ok and works for what I need. I use my iPad Pro 12.9 as a home laptop mostly for reading and occasional shopping/browsing. The case itself is fine— as some other reviews indicate, its a bit loose when the keyboard isn’t attached but this is nbd for me since I rarely take mine anywhere. My bigger issue is with the keyboard itself. Its functionality with the ipad is a little weird. For example: my ipad screen will still shut off like it’s not being used/touched even while I’m actively typing (though not all the time, it seems to depend on what app I’m using). Also, the keyboard doesn’t have emojis that i can find (not a huge deal but irritating). There’s other weirdness. I was previously using an apple keyboard but I use a Logitech one for my work iPad and I don’t have these issues. The one thing I really like? The ability to completely detach the keyboard and use away from the device or store when not in use. I don’t use the keyboard unless i need to type emails/texts/etc (or reviews!) so that is a nice feature. I would probably not purchase again. ... show more

  • Good product, wrong color
Color: Pink-Backlit
I like the product a lot, however it is pretty large and bulky (especially for a 12.9 inch iPad) and the pink color of the actual case is rose gold and not a pale pink. For this reason I will be returning and purchasing a different color either from the same brand or something similar for another.

  • Charging Cable problem
Color: Black
I liked the price, the look and form. Functionality was very good. Did not realize there was a usb to keyboard cable in the box, it wasn't noted which caused a few problems until I realized it was shoved in the rectangular cardboard. I thought the cardboard was just for shipping security. Please mark the container appropriately. ... show more
