This is a tubing mascara. And it is glorious. Easy to apply (wipe the excess off the wand before applying--this is Mascara 101, and a necessity for tubing mascaras because they are always wetter than traditional mascaras)--the wand has a lot of fine bristles that do a good job of separating and coating each lash, and the small diameter makes it easy to reach the inner and outer corners even if your eyes are small. The formula dries quickly, and doesn't clump unless the tube is old or you wait too long between coats. I use two coats--the first coat I wiggle for volume, and the second coat I look down and pull the wand up and out to create curl and length. I prefer bold lashes so two coats is perfect for me (I don't see any gains by adding more than two coats), but for a work/day look most people will be fine with one coat.The formula is a true black, it does a good job of adding volume without creating spiderlashes or weighing lashes down, and the length and curl lasts all day in all weather. It stays put perfectly all day without flaking. It holds up to rain and tears well, but does come off my lower outer corners when I rub my eyes during allergy season. It removes easily with water and very gentle rubbing--I have not lost any lashes from this mascara and I don't find remnants of it the next day. For reference, other tubing mascaras I have tried that have not performed nearly as well as this one are Blinc Original (didn't seem to do much other than make the lashes black), Blinc Amplified (flaked off during the day), DHC Perfect Pro (hard to remove; I lost lashes with this one), and Trish McEvoy High Volume (clumpy formula that got even clumpier if it got wet).

So I love this mascara. Because I squint when I smile I constantly get the "raccoon eye" effect underneath my eyes and was forever searching for a great smudge-proof mascara. This mascara definitely doesn't smudge, and like the other reviewers said, it's really to wash off. I don't even use my face wash on it since my face wash contains granules that I don't want to get anywhere near my eyes, so I'm glad that the mascara comes off with just water and a little bit of light rubbing. I only it apply it in the mornings with rarely any touching up. (I might add another layer if i'm going out in the evening though). I debated on this, but I took off a whole star for 3 reasons (2 minor, 1 major): 1. It's pricey for a mascara, and by far the most I've ever spent on one. However, since it does exactly what I need it to, I'm willing to pay for it and will definitely be ordering it again once this runs out. I've only been using it for about a week or so, so I can't say yet how long it lasts. 2. It's lighter than I thought it would be. I purchased the "rich pitch black" and when I have it on it resembles my brown "They're Real" mascara from Benefit. Not a huge issue, but worth mentioning. 3. The biggest issue is the brush - it is TINY. I don't know if this mascara is designed to be a lower lash mascara specifically, but that's definitely what it looks like. I didn't note anything in the description before I purchased it that it was either or. Because the brush is so thin, it takes me 4 times as long to apply the mascara to my top lashes. Granted, this doesn't cost me an hour of my time or anything, but every single morning when I apply it for the day it bugs me a little. And since the tube is so thin, I can't use a different brush because it would be too hard to cram in there. It does apply to the bottom lashes easily though. In summary, I really like this for the smudge-proof factor and will purchase again, but maybe (hopefully) they can work out the kinks and improve the product a little.
