    • Quality Control Needs a Major Overhaul! (UPDATED)
I liked the box (5 stars), but it arrived on November 29, 2018 with a defective hydraulic hinge and a missing plastic support hinge (- one star). I called the service number to order the parts. She told me I would receive my replacement parts in 5-6 days. I received the plastic hinge part in the mail 6 days later, but not the hydraulic hinge. (- one star) I called them back. They have no record of me calling them on the 29th...hmm, liars. Now the say the hydraulic hinge is on backorder and will take 2 to 3 months to get. It must be a popular replacement part. (- one star) I’m not happy with their customer service. They’re not organized and have poor quality control. I will up my reviews after I receive a working replacement hinge. UPDATE: I finally received the replacement hinge today, December 21, 2019 (+ one star). Not only did the send me the one hinge I needed, they sent me two along with one complete set of screws, lock latch and another plastic L shaped support hinge (+ one star). It’s nice to have the spare parts in case I will need them. Final tally, 4 stars. ... show more

    • Box good; quality control poor; customer service horrendous
Before rating the box itself, I’ll rate the company, Keter. I have to give them very low grades. 1. The unit came in a strapped box that was intact but the straps were significantly cutting into the box. No damage resulted to the contents, but it was an indication that the packaging was suspect. 2. There were no Assembly Instructions in the box. As there were a different quantity of two different length screws, not knowing which screws to put where was problematic. I tried to infer which screws went where from the screw type quantity and the hole location quantities, but they didn’t match up. 3. There was a single piece of paper in the box that included a customer service number if you had problems. I called it 4x about getting the Assembly Instructions: A. One time (on a Sunday evening) after waiting for “the next available person” for several minutes, a person did pick up. She spoke with a heavy middle eastern accent, but I was, for the most part, able to understand her. She told me she couldn’t send the instructions to me, but that they were available on the Keter website as a pdf. Before I was able to get the exact website location details, the call was cut off. (I still don’t understand why a customer service representative could send a pdf file to a customer who needed them.) B. After I scoured the website for several minutes and couldn’t find Assembly Instructions for my product, I called back. This time I waited for the next available person for so long, I just gave up. C. The next time I called was about 10 am EDT on Monday. I got a recording saying their offices were closed, so leave a message (which I did) and they would call back (which they never did.) D. I called back again later in the day, left another message for a return call, and never heard a thing then either. Faced with such lack of support from Keter, I just put the thing together as best I could without the instructions. I think I did it right, but still am not sure I got the different length screws in the right spot because There were two screws of one type and one of the other type left over. (At least there too many, not too few!) Once assembled, the box itself seems relatively good. I needed to use some bar clamps to squeeze the sides and edges together before screwing, but the box is strong, the pistons to lift the top work well, and all the pieces fit. ... show more

Product arrived. No instructions. Frustration ensued. Then I used my brain and searched the product page and found the link to the instructions. They are easy to follow. The screws securing the bottom to the sides are not fun and there are a lot of them. But it’s doable. And it all fits very well together. This will keep out snakes, scorpions, etc. I don’t recommend for someone with arthritis as the screws were not my favorite part, but with a little patience this thing looks like it will hold up well. It’s easily less than an hour for one person to assemble. Edit: after a few weeks, lid no longer closes unless you lock it down (with a padlock). This is a pretty annoying defect. It's still sturdy, but the lid should really close... no? Dropped just one star, but I'm guessing this could happen to others. ... show more

    • Just what I was looking for
Five stars for being sturdy, attractive, spacious, and well made. Was (relatively) easy to assemble. Light enough to be moved into position easily with two people (large size would make it awkward for one person to lift). However, I only gave it four stars for two reasons: 1) One of the corner pieces was longer than the other three. We used a chop saw to trim off about 1/4" to make it match the other three. After that the box went together quickly (in about an hour). 2) The screws are not stainless steel so they will eventually rust as the box will be used outdoors and will be exposed to the elements. ... show more

I have been settling in my house for 2 years now, and as you settle in more, you find more things to want or buy. We have the TINIEST patio in our backyard and had put all of our grilling things/smoking things/outdoor-related things in a teeny-tiny little box that I had got on sale that was not water-tight and frequently would ruin our wood chips and knock over our lighter fluid. I was tired of it and came across some extra money from work, and this deck box matches my style perfectly. It took about 15 minutes to put together and feels super sturdy, and looks great. Although I was reluctant to buy this at first because some reviewers mentioned it was not easy to assemble. My husband assembled it within an hour and he said it was not difficult when he followed the directions. The height is just right and the top is leveled, not curved as some other deck boxes, so I can use as work station when preparing microgreen trays, etc. It also holds more than I thought. We really liked this, so I bought another one, 150 gallon capacity, but we like them both. ... show more
