This is a tough tarp, definitely heavier than anything at the mega hardware store. The edges are corded, folded almost 2 inches, and glued with brass grommets. BUT, the listing (and the insert) says 16 mil but when I measured the thickness in several places I got about 10 mil. This is a misleading listing and while 10 mil is a respectable weight, the listing (or my caliper) is wrong. I'm not crazy about the silver/blue color either and I have to be careful where I use it because my town has rules about the color if in view of the road - really! Having a tarp available for emergency needs or short term use to cover equipment or firewood is nice. I have a small one, but this one was considerably larger with a listed size of 10 ft (3.05 m) x 20 ft (6.1 m). The actual size of the item I received was 9 ft 10.5 inches (3 m) x 19 ft 8 inches (6 m) which suggests the tarp was actually made to metric measurements and marketed with the closest English measurements. The edges are doubled material to help with wear. Corners have an extra layer of material as well. There are 11 heavy grommets along the long side (corner to corner) and 7 heavy grommets along the short side (corner to corner). The material itself is thick and seems resistant to wear and tear. The seams are tightly sown with no loose threads. When I spread it out to measure the size, I had it full afternoon sun for about 4 minutes. Even though the surface is silver (black underneath), it became almost too hot to touch. One would need to keep that in mind when using the tarp. It’s been years since I’ve purchased a tarp from anyplace other than my local surplus outlet. Long enough that I’d forgotten what a heavy-duty, quality-made tarp is like. It measures a tad undersized but considering its origin, it was probably made to the closest standard metric size and simply listed as 10ft. x 20ft. for the U.S. market. The eyelets are very well made and the corners reinforced and properly set so I expect there will be no torn out eyelets like most of my other tarps have done. There is a mis-match in the product page regarding UV protection. There are several places where UV “resistance” is claimed, yet the listed specs and comparison panel show “false” for UV “protection.” Time will tell the story, I’m sure. Not much else to say; it’s a tarp. High-quality, heavy-duty, and at a good price-point for its features. Although I received this complementary product for review, this is my honest opinion and I was in no way influenced by the vendor, Amazon, or the fact that it was provided at no cost. ... show more

This tarp is very large and very heavy duty. I am confident that it will last for many years. It is waterproof and can be used for your bigger projects. The grommets are very large and reinforced. It is certainly my new favorite tarp to use around my house!
