Description

Kenwood makes tough, rugged amplifiers that bring you superior sound quality along with reliable performance. When you power your subwoofer with Kenwood's Performance Series KAC-9106D amplifier, you'll hear all the great tonal color, impact, and detail in your music's bass, from the hard punch of the rhythm section to the soft thump of a quiet kick drum. CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Kenwood KAC-9106D is rated at 500 watts RMS x 1 channel with a 76 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CEA-2006 conditions) is 100 dB. Power Connections: The power and ground connections are 0.55" wide screw terminals. The remote turn-on screw terminal is 0.335" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended. The manual lists a minimum of 10 gauge wire for power and ground, but given the 120 amp fuse value and the current consumption specification of 65 amps, we recommend a 4 gauge wiring kit. Speaker Outputs: There are two pair of 0.335" wide screw terminal speaker outputs; they are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are also recommended for the speaker wires. Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the KAC-9106D features an adjustable gain control, 0.2-5.0 volts line level (RCA) and 4.0-12.0 volts speaker level. Crossover: The built-in 24 dB/octave low-pass filter has a continuously variable crossover point, 50Hz to 200Hz. Because this is a subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged. Bass Boost: The bass boost is adjustable from 0-18dB at 40Hz.

  • Quality amp for a Great price.
Excellent Amp for the money. Powers my P3 12 with ease. I have my P3 wired at 4 ohms so the amp is supplying 500 watts rms and it pounds with great sound quality. Amp barely gets warm after long periods of play but I also contribute that to having my sub wired in series for 4 ohms impedance. I honestly was skeptical but saw that it was cea-2006 compliant and could be returned hassle free. Also saw the other great reviews. Very pleased. Oh and it looks very good! Very sleek design. • Great amp
Considering how long these have been out they hold up pretty great and is one of the prettiest amps out there that I have seen. You should not push anything lower than two ohms if you want this thing to last. I’m replacing this with a 2k stinger as I pushed 1.6 ohms till something in the amp failed, took a couple hours though. Perfect amp for something that’s not all about the wattage and maybe just more for aesthetics because there are cheaper price to wattage options ... show more

  • Can't believe it was so cheap...performs great!
I don't know a lot about car stereo but after figuring out what I needed to power my 2 Rockford Fosgate R2D4-10's (wired up at 4 ohms) I settled on this amp. I installed it with a KnuKonceptz KCA 4 gauge amp installation kit. These subs @ 4 ohm need 250w. Reviews & my math said this was the right choice & it's an impressive unit out of the box with a nice compact size. Nothing crazy different to report but for the price this amp really makes these subs work. After dialing them in & tweaking the rest of the system the bass is really clean & smooth. After 20 minutes of pushing the system to test, tweak, & dial the amp got warm but nothing crazy. So far I'm content with my choice. I'm not really wise with car stereo stuff but with the availability of equations & specs on the net it made choosing the right amp pretty painless. ... show more

  • Awesome amp, great price
Been using this with an RE SEX 12D4 and it sounds great! Plenty of power... I used knukonceptz 4ga oxygen free wiring and it doesn't dim my headlights much at all... Used to have an MTX 1501d, basically the same amp but I had to use 1/0 gauge power wire to stop it from dimming my headlights too much... I've been using it for a few weeks and it is actually in an enclosed area in my Durango and it hasn't overheated once, even with running at 2ohms... Great amp for the money! ... show more

  • MALFUNCTION or MY FAULT?
Just bought it, the second day it (the amp) started "pulsing". The bass coming from my subs sounded like a heartbeat at a very low volume. The red light was also flashing and the am o was pretty hot. I have 2 twelve inch Rockford P1 svc, wired in parallel series for a 2 ohm load. (Jumper cable from one sub to next) Both subs max are 500 rms. By reading this does anyone think I did something wrong? Or is it a malfunction? Just wanna be clear before I make at returns. Thanks ... show more

  • Thunderous double bass
Thumping! I listen to Metal exclusively... It makes my Cerwin Vegas vmax 10's beat like crazy!! Bass drops sound amazing, my son played some cRAP on them and I was amazed how it sounded and rattled my Avalanche. Best thing I like about is it never gets too hot.

  • Amplifier working perfectly, and tough as nails
I ordered this amp from this seller to take advantage of the Prime shipping rates, I received the item the next day (I love Prime). I had some issues that turned out to be my stupidity (looking at it upside down and thinking about it right side up). It is now installed properly and works extremely well, it's driving 2 Kenwood KFC-W12PS 12"s and they do hit hard, listening to deep sustained base can cause nausea in my car, very cool stuff. I highly recommend the amp and the 12"s, if your on a budget and want the most thump for the buck, this is the set for you. ... show more

  • Match made in heaven, Fosgate Shallow 10" DVC 2 ohm P3s
This amp pushes both of our .5 Cubic Feet sealed for each 10" Rockford Fosgate P3 Shallow DVC (2ohm/2ohm) @ 600 Watts RMS for both subs running a Series/Parallel Connection to both DVC Subs resulting in this amp puching 500 RMS Watts @ 4 ohms to these ear wax moving King Crew Cab Pounders! (2016 Ford F-150 under rear bench seat barely visible) This amp will pound & Pound & POUND in this configuration barely getting warm. Speakers SOUND tight, just when I think they cant hit any harder.. they do. Other Pros this amp offers: High-Level Input, this is great not only to avoid wiring to the head low-outputs rcas, but it also allows you to skip finding an Ignition Remote Wire and wiring it because the high level input is "auto-sensing" not requiring you to run the Remote Turn on Wire. $ Just give it a couple high speaker inputs (We used 60 watt per side highs from a Sony head unit/amp and it worked fine even though the manual says high input is 50 watts RMS max) and a power wire! and you are ready to go. AND GO STRONG YOU WILL If you know how to properly use its god given gift to push insane amounts of juice into your drivers. ... show more
