  • The cover Microsoft should have provided, but glad they didn't.
Let me begin by saying, I currently work in a mixed office and field environment. When I say "field" environment, I mean, I am currently employed by the US military and use this case on a Surface Pro 7 in tactical environments. My SP7 is with me as often as I am allowed to have it with me, which is basically daily, nightly and ever so rightly...Hope someone gets that Scrubs reference. BLUF: -Provides great protection, not as good as a fully enclosed case, but better than other "rugged" cases. -Allows you to use the SP7 kickstand. -Pen holder is secure and easy to use. -Surface Pro easily goes into and out of case, but wont accidently come out of the case. -Bottom of case offers little to no protection. This case has many great features. Some with better execution than others. While other features have to compromise for sake of usage. It's easy to install and remove, but lacks protection along the bottom edge. It improves on holding the Surface Pro by being thicker at the top and providing a hand strap. But the cut outs for the Surface connector are not quite larger enough, causing interference when trying to recharge the tablet. The lack of protection along the bottom does allow for the Surface kickstand to be used, with a notch at the bottom left that provides a finger hold or fingernail catch to the kick stand. The pen slot is another great feature. Its tight enough to keep the pen from falling out, while not so tight to make it difficult to put it away. The string and retention clip were nice at first, but the string would often get in the way of writing on the tablet. Eventually, I just removed it all together. Had it been a coiled retention cable, might have been better but how loose or tight of a coil would have been difficult to determine. The anchor point was a pain, when using the SP in landscape, but in the right place for portrait use. Some have said it should be moved, but its honestly a trade off. Had they anchored it along the right side, instead of the left, the cable would have been in the wrong place for use in portrait mode, which I use more often when using the pen. The keyboard strap didnt last nearly as long as I would have expected. I bought this in May 2020, and the strap broke in Oct or Nov 2020. It didn't break, so much as it came out of the its pivot points. I was able to push them back in a few times, but after the fourth or fifth repair, I gave up on it. Not a huge loss, but was a bummer to lose none the less. Ultimately, this is a great cover for those that use a SP as a daily driver. That carry a SP as often as a pocket knife or wallet. It offers great protection against bumps, bruises, light or low drops, light rain or mist, and day to day scratches and scraps. ... show more

  • As Expected
Went on my Surface Pro 7 easy! Charging cable is a little more difficult to connect but not horrible. Connects to the MS docking station that I have too without issue. Great security for the pen when properly used. Typecover keyboard took a little more time to get on just right but when left on worked great. ... show more

  • Good case but could be engineered better.
I bought this case because I gave my Surface Pro 6 to my 11yr old son. It was cheaper than replacing his very old iPad. The price is what attracted me to this case. This is one of those "cases" (no pun intended) where you get what you pay for. The bottom part of the case where the keyboard attaches is a welcome feature however much to thin if the keyboard is not attached. If it were to fall, this area would fold over and allow damaged to happen to your Surface. The USB openings should have just been on big opening. I had to clip the divider and cut out about .125in of silicone from the lower part of the opening in order to use my USB-MiniSD adapter. Not their fault however maybe for future designs this could be considered. I have SolidWorks 2020 and I will design a model by reverse engineering this case to show how it could be better. The hand strap on the back of the case was a very nice feature of it. I made sure to show my son and make sure he holds it like that =o). (He is autistic). Overall, this is a good case and worth buying. ... show more

  • Saved my Surface
I never leave reviews but after careful research I bought this Kensington case for my Surface after recently breaking it and having to replace my display. Not 2 days later... I accidentally left my surface on the roof of my van, not realizing my mistake until it was too late. I heard the Surface leave the roof with a thud at 50+ mph and then saw it flipping through the air in my rear view mirror to the pavement. Imagine my horror as I pulled the U turn thinking to myself “maybe God just doesn’t want me to have this Surface” but if that was true then God wouldn’t have invented the Kensington $20 case that saved my ass! This case has just a few scuff marks, and is no worse for the wear. Would buy again... ... show more

  • Could be better
I really Do like this case despite my 4 star rating. And will continue to use it until I break it. But there is one thing that really bothers me about this case that I just can’t overlook. Along the sides and bottoms, there are some thinner parts to the cover, mostly surrounding charging & accessory ports. These areas are WEAK and bend very easily if you grab the wrong section on your case. The pieces surrounding the charging port are weak and too easy to bend and I regularly push the charging cord through the case in this section. I think the rest of the case is very sturdy, but I’d be willing to bet that picking up my tablet the wrong way is going to break this case before a drop does. ... show more

  • Not Bad
Good for caring the device around the house. Does not stay on as tightly as I'd like. But i think it would save the device in a fall.

  • Not a Great Fit
The product looks good. The strap is a little tight and I can only fit 3 fingers in comfortably. I wear a size 13 ring, so it's probably okay for most people. The case just didn't fit the surface pro as well as other cases I have used. It has some wonky bulges on the sides and the bottom is really flimsy. I'll keep using it for now but not sure how long it will last. ... show more

  • not quite up to expectations
As a long time Kensington product user, I was a little disappointed with the fit of this wrap-around protector for my surface pro 7. It does fit, but not tightly. The bottom side of the case is warped, so it covers the keyboard connector, but because its rubberized plastic, it easily moves out of the way so as to not interfere when I do attach the keyboard. The rubber band keeper for the upper left corner doesn't really do much of anything. All told, it still performs as designed and looks like it will hold up well. It looks like the packaging got more attention than the product, hence only a 4-star rating. ... show more
