Sturdy design, well made, good quality. It's not silent, but it's reasonably quiet. Nice even airflow. The 360 degree tilting is perfect - so many fans don't tilt any lower than horizontal, which is totally lame. This one gives you absolute freedom. I don't use AC so having a fan blow air across your body whilst sleeping is essential in the hot and humid New York summers. The small "Vornado" style fans create too narrow and sharp of an airflow to be comfortable. This one is just the right size to give a gentle airflow without being too big and cumbersome. It also comes apart to clean the fans, which is essential. Literally my only complaint is that the power cord is attached quite high on the fan, which seems a little awkward when you look at it. In practice though, this hasn't been a problem.

This is an AWESOME FAN!!!! The 16 inch and larger fans were too noisy at high speed and awkward to move around for us. This Ken Brown 14-inch Fan is the perfect size, stable, well built, moves a lot of air, and is much quieter at high and medium speeds than the larger fans!!! APPEARANCE: You can get an idea of the size of the fan by the picture of it sitting on the chair. Also, unlike bright silver fans, the black color blends into the background (see pictures). I had an “out of the box” issue with the first fan. Unfortunately, Amazon had just run out of this model. Because there was not any other 14-inch fans with this kind of quality, I DID NOT send it back to Amazon, but called the Ken Brown service department. After describing the problem, they assured me of the warrantee and sent me a new fan as soon as they were back in stock. Now for the details: This fan has pretty much everything that I was looking for. Most importantly, it has a Ball Bearing Brushless Motor which should last for years. We have a similarly designed fan that has lasted 20+ years. As this Ken Brown fan starts up, it sounds a bit like the whine of the industrial motors that we have at work. It still has a bit of that whine at low speed but is gone at higher speeds. The second fan was quieter than the first on low, but it still has a slight whine. This could be a problem for some, but I wanted the longevity that goes with this kind of motor. For me this far outweighs anything else. Both fans were quieter than most at higher speeds. CLEANING: There are four thumb tabs that flip up and make the grill easy to remove (see pictures). A flat screwdriver may be required to pry up the tabs the first couple of times. Then it requires only one philips screw to be taken off to completely remove the grill. (There is a nut behind the screw so be careful not to lose it). PROS 1) BALL BEARING Motor – for longevity 2) Brushless Motor – for longevity 3) Metal (Not plastic which soon breaks) 4) The Grill comes off easily to Clean Blades (See Pictures) 5) GREAT SERVICE!!! CONS 1) Slight whine at low speed

It's a sturdy and seemingly well-built, but it's quite loud. So, it's great for a greenhouse or garage but not necessarily in your bedroom. Pleased so far with how it's working.

Been looking to get one of these barrel fans for awhile now. The 42" is just too big to store or move around, not to mention the price. But 24" and under is just too small. So I found this 36" and the price was right. Super easy to assemble the wheels, and you're ready to go. Nice long power cord so it reaches most places just fine. And boy does it work! Trying to beat the heat, and the bugs, this summer. This unit is exactly what I wanted. It's skinnier than you would think, but puts out plenty of air on low as well as high. High is a bit loud, but it's worth it. Low is definitely quieter, but still gets the job done. Great breeze and NO bugs! 100% satisfied with this purchase. I'll buy a second and maybe even a third as soon as I get a chance!
