I have very picky feet. These shoes breathe pretty well. I have sweaty stinky feet and these shoes work pretty well. I tried the water proof version of these , DId not work for me. The sole is medium stiffness so you don't feel every tiny rock you step on yet not so stiff that scrambling over boulders and light climbing is good. I have wide toe box , I did NOT have to order WIDE and is just fine. Solomon shoes made my feet hurt and very narrow, Merrell vented shoes are too soft soled (just for reference), my feet do not hurt in Keen. I have NOT had any problems with the tread lugs coming lose so far on this model. I have had problems on the voyageur model, I still loved those shoes. ... show more

Fit, support, and comfort are all excellent. But they replaced a lot of the leather with plastic, and used glue instead of stitching. I've only used them for day hikes, and am already seeing cracks, splits, and signs of pulling apart. I wouldn't trust these for a long hike or go out into the country with them.
