  • These are SUPERB hiking boots!
Size: 11 Color: Syrup
These are SUPERB hiking boots! I had hesitated to buy these based on several negative reviews, but finally I went ahead and bought them, knowing Keen footwear and their very high quality.... I couldn't be more pleased! I've worn Keen shoes for years, finding they not only fit my feet very well, with the wide toe box and narrower heel cup, but they were built like a tank! After wearing their Targee hiking shoes for over 4 years, they still hadn't worn out, and I pretty much wore them daily on the street and over many hiking and biking trails. I also still wear the Keen Austin shoes after several years. Still going strong and good looking. I had worn my old hiking boots for a long, long time, but found my feet changing as I've aged, and needing a wider toe box. So again, I decided on the Keen Pyrenees boots, and again Keen did not disappoint. These hiking boots are SO well made and designed! Premium leather, waterproof, great ankle support, light weight, and extremely comfortable on the trails. Don't be thrown off by any negative reviews.... these are really terrific hiking boots! ... show more

  • 2nd Pair
Size: 11 Color: Syrup
Love the Pyrenees boots (and Keen shoes/sandals in general). This is my 2nd pair. 1st lasted 5 years. Why do I love them: - Wide toe box gives plenty of room to move - Full leather outers and partial leather interior so they're built to take a beating. - Boot is fully leather wrapped with very minimal seam to rip or leak. - Comfortable -- like wearing slippers without compromising the stability/ankle protection. The only negatives are they're not officially re-soleable and the soles will wear out faster than vibrams. However, there are online cobblers that will resole on them. Was considering going that route but my feet have grown a half-size in five years and decided it was better to get a new pair. I've read reviews mentioning weight as a factor and the Pyrenees aren't great for warmer climates. Full leather boots are going to be heavier by nature than fabric. But, I've never noticed it being an issue on even extended outings. I do a lot of hiking in the Unitah Moutains (Western Rockies) with 5-6K elevation changes and in desert areas. And, have hauled a few elk out of the backcountry wearing Pyrenees. The weight and stability of the boots has never been an issue. Utah summer temperatures can get well over 100. The full leather makes the Pyrenees less breathable than fabric boots. But, It's not enough that I'd switch even in the summer desert heat. The only cons would be with not being replaceable soles and would agree the tread isn't going to be as good in wet/snowy conditions as a vibram. But, again, it's not enough of a difference that I'd want to spent 3X for it. ... show more

  • Poor quality
Size: 9.5 Color: Drizzle/Black Iris
Comfortable and fits great but the soles are falling apart already after light use. Keen quality is not what it used to be!!!

  • Best boots I've worn in a very long time
Size: 11.5 Color: Drizzle/Black Iris
Great boots! My feet are wide across the forefoot but not particularly wide at the heel, so most boots that fit around my toes leave my heels sliding around. But these fit quite well. They are comfortable and provide lots of ankle support. I wear them every day to hike (I'm retired and spend a lot of time hiking with my dog) and they have held up amazingly well for over a year, still going strong. These might be the only "waterproof" hiking boots I've owned in many years that actually don't leak. I think it's because the uppers are made of only a couple of pieces of leather and there are very few seams. The traction is just ok but far from the worst. I just bought a spare pair I case Keen stops making them. ... show more

  • Nice wide toe box, solid boot, not too heavy.
Size: 13 Color: Keen Maple/Marmalade
I got these boots at about 1/2 retail, and at that price I am very happy. I had been wearing shoes that were way too narrow and I injured the smallest toes on one foot. These Keen Pyrenees have a nice wide toe box, and since I have been wearing them, my small toes are healing nicely. Plenty of room for my toes to move. I usually wear size 12, but I went with size 13 and they are working well. The boots felt hard under foot for about 25 miles, then softened up nicely. I walk mostly on pavement (maybe 25% on trails.) I have about 100 miles on them. The tread wears pretty quickly on pavement, but pavement is hard on most hiking shoes. Pros: solid but not too heavy. easy entry and exit for your foot. nice looking (personal opinion). Good quality insoles. Plenty of protection underfoot, yet provides some flexion and sensitivity. Cons: Hot, but not worse than other waterproof boots. 200 MILE UPDATE: Liking these boots more and more. The leather has broken in well, formed to my feet, and they feel as if they have molded to the undersides of my feet as well. I wear thin toe socks with these boots, as I cannot stand having my toes unnecessarily sweaty and compressed, and I cannot take advantage of the wide toe box if my toes are getting crushed by my socks. The toe box is a godsend in these boots, and as other reviewers have noted, the heel is not too wide, so I have great toe room, but my heel comfortably stays in place, with just enough play to make it comfortable. As I said I walk mostly on pavement, and the tread wears pretty fast so I don't know how many miles I will ultimately get out of these, but I will update. If you hike woodsy trails, you should get a lot more mileage. Also, I am about 230 lbs, wearing size 13. 300 mile update: I had to swap out the insoles as they were starting to wear down around the balls of my feet and I did not want to run the risk of any blisters. If you are lighter weight than me, the insoles will probably last longer. ... show more

  • Nice boots
Size: 12 Color: Syrup
These boots are used for work with a lot of walking in grass and concrete. Well made with little break-in time. They seem to run true to size and great for my wide feet.
