This is a review two years into using these paints. I might plan on upgrading soon, but they’re absolutely worth it if you’re on a budget for decent watercolors. The palette does stain (as a warning) if you don’t clean it, but that’s on me though. The only thing I’m sad about was the fact that the brush isn’t too good. You can get a wide range of colors with em’, and aren’t expensive to play around with. They’re great for beginners, too (coming from experience) and they’re still good for any skill level. I’m currently sort of running out of the yellow, but that’s just from use. I’ve used these for multiple paintings, and they do pretty well for landscapes too. (I’m using canson mixed media paper for all of these except the last pic, which is daler rowney sketch paper.). Much better alternative if you’re looking for cheaper paints. ... show more

If you’re new to watercolor or looking to gift a set of paints but don’t know what to buy, this would be a great addition to anyone’s supplies. The paints are brightly pigmented, have a beautiful finish, and are an easy to work with. Because they’re semi-moist they never dry out hard like a rock, they’re easy to rehydrate and last a long time. The colors blend well together giving plenty of creative freedom to a curious new artist. The set is compact and can hold a brush making it perfect for painting on the go. I swatched these 8 colors and all but the black looked really nice. The black needs a bit more red added to keep the greenish tone down. The dried paint on the paper where I swatched them had shiny spots mixed in with the mat color. I wonder if that is the gum Arabic shining. I will use these pure true colors for a project. Overall very pleased. There is a useable brush . Good for beginners watercolor. The 8 colors can be mixed when a little water is added to make other colors such as lime green or lilac.
