Next-Generation Guitar Pedal Effects, Designed and Built in the USA Keeley Electronics started with one man – RK himself – at a kitchen table, and grew through garages, storage units and makeshift workspaces to our modern, cutting-edge facility. Fuzz Bender does not disappoint! So let’s get this out of the way, Amazon sent me someone’s busted return (probably). I’m not mad. I was able to mitigate it, but that was lame. It had a messed up power input jack. It’s possible it’s a fluke but I’m watching you Amazon! The bias, volume and fuzz control are really the stars of the show. Especially bias. Fuzz at 1/10 still feels like you’re making aggressive music. Crank it up to 10 and it’s milky smooth. The bias knob seems to gate it the higher you go, but doesn’t really diminish the sustain or velvety sweet sound. This pedal isn’t sputtery the way wilder fuzzes are. It’s very usable and there’s enough flexibility in the controls and circuit that you can dial in different tones - but it never falls apart completely. If you want a solid product that will sound like fuzz and give you a couple hours of tonal exploration, this is your pedal. If you want a fuzz that devolves into something that sounds broken or experimental, I’d get a death by audio fuzz pedal. However, for $150 and made in the USA, this is a total win! I’d be willing to bet you’d love it no matter what your fuzz fantasy is. For reference I have a Kink Charlie fuzz. This is tamer but also has controls. ... show more

Love this pedal! Using it with a Fender Vibroverb and it sounds great. It's not exactly the tone of David Gilmour on Dark side but it's very close. My wife said she thought it was spot on when playing Time. The Big Muff tones are great for any music that benefits from a Big Muff style fuzz. It's not great if you want to use all the mod effects built in when playing live because you would have to bend down and fiddle with knobs and switches so I have just found settings I love and leave them there. This pedal also has a great tape delay and could be used just for the fuzz and delay even if you don't play much Pink Floyd. ... show more

Update: thank you Keeley for making the Realizer, which is exactly what I asked for (the reverb/chorus side of the loomer. Updating to 4 stars. Problems ----------------- This Pedal is amazing in some ways, but mine came with a problem. First of all, when you bypass the tone, the volume drops lower than it should (lower than when you take the pedal out of the chain.) Worse than that, it would kill the tone when bypassed. I know Keeley is supposed to be a quality pedal designer, so I'll go ahead and give them the benefit of the doubt that this is a defective pedal. The pedals in Youtube reviews appeared to not have this problem Functionality ------------------- As far as when the effects were engaged, The left side of the pedal is amazing. However, I am not as excited about the fuzz. It would be nice if Keeley would produce the left half of this pedal including depth knob, and let people choose their own fuzz. Would love to have the left side, and save some real estate. ... show more

This should be on every pedal board. I got it for its Gilmour tones (which it reproduces magnificently) but it is amazing for so much more!! If I could have only one pedal (besides a tuner) it would hands down be the Keeley Dark Side.

    • Sounds decent, not for playing live

Cool workstation but that’s where it ends. The effects are decent, and you can mix 2 at a time. But only the 2 in that side of the switch. You can’t use delay with any other effects, which means if you want delay with say flanger, you gotta have an extra delay pedal. Or vice versa. The fuzz is good, but nothing you can’t get with a Rams Head. Small footprint, big headache for gigging out. You’d spend more time dialing in than playing. Would be perfect for setting up at home on a stand where it’s easier to access the features, rather than bending down to change and dial in. It’s A GOOD PEDAL. Don’t get me wrong. But if you are looking for something you can “set and forget” this isn’t the pedal for you. You have more control over separate stomp boxes. And will probably spend roughly the same as the price tag on this guy, if you buy decent clones. Not being able to use delay in the mix is a real let down. Being the majority of Gilmours sound WAS delay. They made a pedal for a while to simulate the delay on this, but can’t find one and they are another 200 plus if you can. It may be the best thing on the market for some people. But wasn’t my favorite. Nothing against the company. It’s a solid pedal, that sounds good. Just too much fiddling around for me. ... show more

    • ‘Dark Side’ Fuzz with More Bass

Many people think this is a stand-alone fuzz from Keeley’s Dark Side pedal. It’s quite a different circuit, though, and the main difference is that this one has way more bass response. That means it’s better for bass players, drum machine users, and anyone who wants a thicker, fuller sound from their fuzz. It’s got a TON of volume and a huge sound. While it sounds amazing — hence my 5-star rating — I like a little more high end overall from a fuzz. I tested this and another op amp fuzz in a mix, and I found that the Moon did not stand out as much, blending in with the mid tones of the other instruments. The other more typical fuzzes stay in the upper range and don’t overlap with synth, drums, bass, etc. After a lot of A/B tests I’m sticking with the Keeley Loomer, which has the Dark Side circuit in it, but instead of the Pink Floyd stuff it has the MBV/Slowdive stuff. ... show more
