Our posteriors were getting a bit sore on the longer paddles, and we'd rented a boat with thicker padding ad enjoyed it, so ordered these from Amazon. I've been using this in my jon boat to supplement the fishing seats. Yes, the gel is super comfortable. I just wish there was a better material on the outside to prevent it from slipping and walking around when standing and sitting. This is my second of this type of cushion - it's very comfortable, works well with my Oru tandem and the strap that holds the seat in place, stays dry/dries quickly, and is a massive bargain over the Oru upgraded seat. Get it. Period. This saves your rear and makes kayaking so much more comfortable. I have a sit/in kayak - cheaper end one from sporting good store. So maybe higher end kayaks don’t have the same problem, but the seat is not that comfortable. I’ve been in the saddle for 2-3 hours at a time and can handle it just fine, but oh man this thing makes it soooo much more comfortable. I debated getting it, wondering if I was being frivolous, but I’m so glad I did, kayaking is so much more comfortable. I use this to enhance a old computer chair. It's super soft and works great when sitting for hours. The material and size is just as described. Cleanup is easy, just wash the cover and rinse the gel pad.

My second one of those - somehow they seem to all be very similar; a silicone type gel netted into honeycomb shaped openings on the sitting side and grid type openings n the bottom. Not perfect, as you can somewhat feel the silicone ridges, but surprisingly not so bad it hurts or negates the cushioning effect. The zip-off cover on this one was well-sized, and fit ok, but not too tight, that it is difficult to remove and replace, which you may want to do, when it becomes waterlogged and soaked. - Overall it works for me to help raise me a little, which at 5’ often is needed, and cushion for longer trips. 4 STARS, -> (*RATE SCALE*: 5=perfect; 4=minor imperfections; 3=on fence; not sure if I’d buy again; 2= too many problems; 1= shouldn’t be sold or is dangerous). ... show more
